I have really great internet and good download speed and around 30 ping on speedtest.
But in game i have around 60 and it frequently rockets from there to 200 at random. It does this loads and I don't know why it's only in tf2. I have tried with and without a internet config and it remains as bad.
Any ideas as to why tf2 might be doing this?

are you speedtesting to the place that the server is located
Does it ever get worse depending on the time of day
Is there anyone else on your internet
This should go without saying, but are you using ethernet?

Doesn't seem to get worse at different time, no.
It is bad whether other people are using the router or not.
Using wifi but i am getting 70-80% connection all the time. Could this still be an issue?
Edit - Thanks for replies guys btw

wifi is the issue. I played on wifi for a couple month period about 3 years ago and it was a major issue
if you want good connection, get wired.
I had to get a 50ft cable and run it through like 3 rooms (and through the floor, but there was already a hole due to renovations so who cares)

If location of your router is a problem, try investing in a powerline ethernet adapter, just be sure your outlets are on the same circuit in your house.
