Like a lot of tf2 players, I enjoy the occasional pub. I live on the east coast, so I usually join some Virginia valve servers and relax, but recently I've only been able to connect to Virginia servers half of the time, the other half I cannot connect and the game forces me to choose an LA server. I tried reinstalling, changing some setting, but nothing really worked. Anyone else have this issue and/or any idea as to how to solve it?

Go to Steam Settings and hit the In-Game tab
Change In-Game server browser: Max pings / minute to 250 or 500
It will take longer to find servers but you'll almost always be able to connect

Follow up:
So initially changing the max ping worked, but now I'm not able to connect to many Virgnia servers. When I try to connect, either through the console or quick-play "show servers" screen, my computer tries to connect, but fails. When I try to connect through the console, the error message I get says that it tried to connect 4 times, but failed. Any thoughts?

I'm having this issue too, with like 90% of the Virginia servers. No trouble with LA.
EDIT: Nevermind, troubles with LA. Whenever a round ends in a mapchange, I just get an infinite dialog box:
