I remember using GeForce GT520 and randomly having shit fps.
could be 100 with 1920x1080
and 20-30 with 1280x720.
recommend buying a new one.

I had a similar issue. My fps would go from 280 to 20 every few seconds. I thought it was my gpu thermal throttling. Turns out my cpu was idling at about 90C. My thermal paste was actually all dried up. I don't know if this is the same in your case but you might want to look into your cpu. Download something like msi afterburner to check your temperatures.
