It's pretty crazy to think I have played in every "Winter League" for ozfortress. Should I continue that record? :P
Interesting comparison, and cool to see opinion pieces about tf2. I think a fair portion of the analysis is dead wrong, and some of the comparisons don't apply at all, but it's always still interesting to read.

Welp looks like you're in with some luck, the "Winter League" is dead

Considering the main calling duties were typically left to myself then aporia (bonobo called a bit more at i49, and antwa was a big factor in a lot of calling at i49 also), and that in terms of 'star players' neither sheep or termo were mentioned, you are probably correct in that department.
I can't comment on the CS side of things but, yes, you do have a point.
It's funny, a lot of the comparisons you made with immunity and mibr could be made between immunity and the 2015 Cloud9. Both teams, seemingly out of nowhere, started either taking games or winning tourneys against the top teams at the time, both teams had an invaluable leader that was responsible for a large part of their team's success( yuki in immunity's case, seang@res with cloud9), and also both teams often played around a powerful sniper (sheep and Skadoodle).
To be fair it's difficult to draw many comparisons from 2 tournaments we've ever seen iM face intercontinental competition too! Every point will have a caveat of some sort simply because it's such a small sample. That's why you need to come to i58 :>
