Hello,
I have a HyperX Cloud 2 headset, which is connected to a USB sound card that comes along with it. Yesterday I started having problems with the audio as the headset started outputting crackling sound, as if the 3,5mm male was losing contact to the USB sound card. As that happened, my mic also stopped inputting sound. To solve it, I just reconnected the USB connector and that was it.
Just a couple of minutes ago as I was playing and using a discord voice chat, the problem reappeared multiple times. Unlike yesterday though, different things happened every time. Sometimes my audio would completely cut out and my game (Divinity original sin) would go black, and sometimes all I needed to do was reconnect the USB and my audio and mic would come back to life.
Eventually it crashed so hard I haven't been able to get it working again. The problem this time is that my software isn't uploading audio to the voice chat server for whatever reason. My mic is inputting audio as Discord, Mumble and windows react to my voice. I've also tried using a different headset that doesn't use a USB sound card, and the exact same thing happens with that one as well.
TLDR: My mic is inputting audio into my PC, and multiple voice chat programs detect it just as they should. When I talk my user icon on mumble lights up, but my friend can't hear me (but I can hear him). Basically it's as if my friend's trolling me, but I know he's not.
Does anyone know of a solution? Or if there's something I should try, please let me know!

Also, my gut tells me it might be my graphics card drawing its last breaths, but I've no idea how to check if that's the case.

Try re-installing your audio drivers. Also do you have a soundcard in your pc as well?

The headset doesn't have drivers, though I did update its firmware as well as the drivers for the motherboard's integrated sound card and the graphics card drivers. I don't know which one of these fixed it, but it's all good now.
