Looks pretty fun as a casual game but IMO Widow's walls destroy any flank possibilities without even having to comm it so iunno man. Will be interesting to see where the game is after its been out for a year or so and has balance changes etc.
i have thoroughly enjoyed scrimming and playing matches much more than i have pubs and i implore yall to do the same before passing ow off as a casual game
i have no idea what the skill ceiling is or how it compares to high level tf2 but theres a lot of nuance and mechanics to learn

SideshowThat's absolute bullshit, it's favoured by like 90% of the pros who give their opinion. The only ones I can even think of who dislike hl1 currently, admit that with more heroes the game would be better hl1.
Yeah please do embrace a different ruleset from pubs so that blizzard will have to deal with the shitty backlash tf2 comp had to: 'hurr durr the game is different in competitive why cant i run 4 pomson engineers'.

i was wrong, im just not a real fan of 1hl, makes the game very boring and not as fluid. Equivalent to when goblins and gnomes was taken out of HS. 1hl feels like an excuse for poor balancing over a reasonable format imo, but this is my opinion from scrimming numerous hours at an alright level, so I very well could be wrong

idk from the streams i've watched, viewers also prefer 1hl than cancer comps
people just complain about widowmakers now

lol 1hl
In reality though, I dislike 1hl in theory but for now find it necessary in practice. If the game was considerably better balanced around hero stacking I'd disagree wholeheartedly with 1hl but it's not and seeing the same double Reaper, double Winston, double McCree and so on dragged out every other game gets dull fast.
Fun sidenote - the announcement of this tournament got completely buried in PotG gifs and skin suggestions on the Overwatch subreddit. Don't think it even hit frontpage.

pendaexcited for the ex-tf2 players that are competing in this but also sad that tf2 never had this :(
This. It honestly makes me sad that TF2 never got to this point. But, for me personally, I actually like the smaller competitive scene that TF2 offers. I feel like in CS:GO and OW, it is harder to be recognized and be picked up by a pro team, because there is going to be someone always better than you in a sense. I, at the moment, like competitive TF2 and it'll do, but I wish we could have some of the older ex-TF2 players back but you can't do anything about it -- you just have to accept it and remember the good times that we've all had in the community.

Goddamn, I legit enjoy playing a few rounds with pals every now and then, but watching the game is so horrible.
Flashy shit, stuff happening but at the same nothing happening it all.
Sad to see that money makes Esports, not competitive gameplay quality.
