It’s been quite the ride since ETF2L Season 24 started. We've gone through many matches, PogChamps and FailFishs, memes that have been forged under the mighty hands of Twitch chat, and the DreamHack Summer Invitational, which left everyone at a cliffhanger.

Our last stop before we reach the end of the road is the ETF2L Premiership Playoffs. The top four teams from the regular season will be punching their ticket into the double elimination bracket as they plan to duke it out and earn the title of Season 24 champions.

Format

Unlike the previous seasons of ETF2L where a gauntlet bracket was used, the Premiership playoffs will utilize a double elimination bracket. The top four teams will be seeded based on their performance in the regular season, with the 1st seed matched up against the 4th seed and the 2nd seed taking on the 3rd seed.

Every fixture will be a best of 3 series, other than the Grand Finals as a best of 5. The team coming from the upper bracket in the Grand Finals will have a one map advantage, meaning they only need to win two maps to take the title. All fixtures will also have map pick and bans.

Map Pool

The map pool for the playoffs will be the current ETF2L S24 map pool. One important thing to note is that Snakewater will be played on the u10 version instead of u8. Everything else will remain the same. The map pool is as follows:

  • Badlands
  • Snakewater (u10 version)
  • Process
  • Product
  • Reckoner
  • Gullywash
  • Granary Pro

Prize Pool

The €1000 prize pool will be distributed among the playoff teams as shown:

  • 1st: €500
  • 2nd: €300
  • 3rd: €200
  • 4th: €0

Teams and Rosters

Perilous Gaming

  • Scout: Thalash
  • Scout: Astt
  • Roamer: Mike
  • Pocket: Silentes
  • Demoman: alle
  • Medic: kos

Prediction: 2nd

Perilous have shown that they have the ability to win against any team in Europe. Their online performances have been slightly lower than their LAN play at DreamHack Summer, and last week lost their only maps in close fashion to nameLess, but they go into these playoffs as the first seed on the back of a consistently great season. The first seed gives them the map advantage over whoever they meet in the upper bracket final and an easier first game, but it will still be very difficult for them to overcome nameLess twice in a tournament. This entire playoff tournament will be decided by the level that Perilous hit. It's in their hands.

LEGO

  • Scout: sorex
  • Scout: iZon
  • Roamer: zen
  • Pocket: Josh
  • Demoman: Dr. Phil
  • Medic: condom

Prediction: 3rd

LEGO have had a superb season so far. Bolstered by their early upset against nameLess, they have been riding a wave of energy which has taken them above and beyond what we've come to expect from the squad. Dr. Phil has been building a strong case to be considered a truly top demoman, while the scout synergy is working far better than in previous seasons. However LEGO shouldn't expect an easy victory against nameLess this time around, and their online loss to Perilous may well be repeated. With the new double elimination system, LEGO will have a tough time in their first playoff appearance, as they'll need to upset multiple teams if they hope to take their first title.

nameLess

  • Scout: Stark
  • Scout: Hafficool
  • Roamer: Drackk
  • Pocket: kaptain
  • Demoman: spudd
  • Medic: Raymon

Prediction: 1st

nameLess's initial teething period this season appears to be over. They had a huge amount of difficulty adapting to life without kaidus and were performing at a truly awful level in the early weeks of this season. After DreamHack Summer and a shaky but improved performance there, they proceeded to replace their previous medic Permzilla with Raymon and keep improving. A recent victory on both maps against Perilous puts them in a great position to take these playoffs despite being 3rd seed, but each game will be insanely close against LEGO and Perilous - and should they lose the Upper Bracket Final this tournament, I don't see them recovering.

happy throwers

  • Scout: basH
  • Scout: schocky
  • Roamer: DamnEasy
  • Pocket: Relior
  • Demoman: Brego
  • Medic: ?????

Prediction: 4th

Strangely we have a team in the Premiership Playoffs without a full roster, since ThUn stepped down recently. The team threw a few names at me when I inquired: flushy, Graba, feeling, and Honeybadger have all been floated by the team but they are unsure who they will be using in the playoffs. happy throwers as a team has been getting steadily less consistent and impressive as the season has gone on; despite star players giving star performances at times, the team lacks the team coordination and discipline to take maps from these top teams. They also appear to be lacking motivation and fully expect to lose the playoffs and fold post-season.

Wooah! Good job!

Fun fact: every time schocky has played Premiership, he has reached Playoffs and won most of them. (since season 10)
