Now that valve has launched a proper demo recording tool inside of tf2, does anybody still use P-rec? Does anybody know how to configure properly the valve demo recorder? Is there a way to bookmark?

For some stupid reason the demo recorder would record everything, including casual games even though I specifically configured it to record only in tournament mode.

I heard somewhere that the best way to use the valve recording tool is to bind a key to record the game. Does anybody use that?

This is in my autoexec:

ds_log 0
ds_enable 3
bind t ds_mark

----------------
ds log 0 turns of automatic logging of events. These events only track a certain number of kills within a time frame. To turn this on change the '0' to '1'

ds_enable 3 sets auto demo recording to only record on a tournament mode enabled server

bind <key> ds_mark marks the tick and demo in a notepad document logging events manually. Obviously just change the key I put to whatever you want.

I had the same issue, that when you set something in your advanced options it wouldn't save so all the settings I wanted to change I just put in an autoexec. Hope this helps.

I did put it in the autoexec.cfg but It still records my casual games.

I used Demo Support for a while, but realised P-REC is still better if you mostly play comp. There're some of advantages of P-REC:
1. Demo file's name include the name of the map, which makes it easier to find an exact demo.
2. Only records the match itself (no pregame and stuff).
3. Doesn't automatically record casual.
4. Makes a status screenshot (needed for ETF2L officials).

The only downside is that you can't play Valve's matchmaking and casual (wtf why?).

shorasThe only downside is that you can't play Valve's matchmaking and casual (wtf why?).

prec crashes horribly in matchmaking, and since it isn't being updated anymore, valve decided to just ban it altogether

it doesn't work in casual anymore? rip, i stick to fast hightower now tho for pubs

i still use p-rec cause it only records actual games and not warmup. the only downside for me is that it won't record pugs with the new ready system so i normally just don't bother. people normally do it manually now though

Tatois there a way to contact valve about this? An email or something?

the features that its missing should be emphasized in the email (record on map start, no name in demo file, etc)

since it's valve i'd also love to see the bookmarks implemented into the demoui too
