Long story short, I was messing around with https://www.monitortests.com/forum/Thread-Custom-Resolution-Utility-CRU and now I only have 60hz on my monitor.

Anyone know what the settings are for creating a custom resolution in nvidia control panel?

Just change the 60 to the highest your monitor can go

Don't know how to screenshot to show, but I get black bars beneath and above my game as opposed to on the left and right when you play on a 4:3 res. I normally play on 1280*720. I also set my scaling mode to fullscreen and aspect ratio but both had the same effect. I play on 1280*960 in cs and it seems to have the same issue but the black bars are thinner.
I guess you could create another resolution for ___ but that seems like a pain to change everytime you launch the game.

i assume you screwed up with cru, to return you can use restart utility and choose recovery mode or if it doesn't work use http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html and then download drivers again
