To catch up everyone on what's going on, back in September, a bunch of NA orgs like C9, TSM, CLG, etc. announced the Professional Esports Association, or PEA.

The PEA was going to host a CS:GO league that had revenue sharing, big prize pools, and such. The league would also be controlled by the team owners. The players however didn't even know about the PEA until the day before it was announced. They were a bit skeptical, but they were told by the owners that the league would be transparent with the players, along with working with the players to ensure that they and everyone can work together. They also said that the league wouldn't be exclusive despite some fears.

Around IEM Oakland (early November), the players heard rumors that the PEA and the team owners wanted to force them to withdraw from the ESL Pro League, one of the big CS:GO leagues in the circuit. They eventually got SirScoots to represent them in the discussions, and Scoots was able to confirm that the PEA indeed wanted them out of the EPL. They tried to discuss with the PEA, but they weren't given the full details.

Finally, when they asked the owners on why the owners can say what events they can go to or not, the owners said "Its in your contracts", despite the players always choosing on their own terms on what events/league they want to play in. They weren't given any further details. Because of all of this, the PEA broke their promise on being truthful and offering transparency along with the promise of the league not being exclusive. The players have therefore decided to publish the letter to let the community know about their situation.

The players from C9, TSM, CLG, Immortals, and Team Liquid have signed the letter that was published. They also hope that the players from the two other teams in the PEA (NRG and Complexity) also join them as well.

I would highly encourage everyone to read the letter to hear about the full story.

Also, just recently, seang@res said he's getting cut from TSM due to the letter:

Man, I just wanna watch people who are good at video games play them against other people who are also good at video games. Now we have unions and protests and shady backroom contracts and shit? I thought games were to escape real life.

Shit's different when there's lots of money involved. Why do you think competitive TF2 is so uneventful in comparison?

this isn't true, he said they have 76 reasons to leave tsm which is pointing to them joining dignitas since they recently got bought by the 76ers. this is just speculation though, not something he confirmed.

"The soon to be ex-TSM roster"

you have to think he knows something

i understand that. dekay is more confident whenever he reports on something. he's known in the community as the "per sources" guy. the "76 reasons" thing is just referring to Dignitas not having a roster, but wanting to build one in NA. no concrete info AFAIK right now about the rest of the remaining TSM roster, but, again, not unfathomable they will try to stick together with sean.

Sorta off topic, I'm not sure why dekay is still seen as some holy beacon of esports insider journalism, considering pretty much everything interesting he 'reports' gets leaked by Haci/yee_lmao or HLTV way before he publishes anything (see: -fnx +felps to SK, for which Haci provided proof 2 months before Dekay published an article about it). He's literally just someone who reposts the leaks, adds 'per sources' and rakes in ad revenue. Hardly a real esports journalist compared to people like Richard Lewis, considering Dekay just leaches off other people's work and then doesn't credit them, but he'll cry when HLTV doesn't credit him as source of articles, even though there's no reason to believe he even was the source. He's a massive hypocrite.

Also I agree with the removal of Sean, honestly. He signed a contract for them a week ago, doesn't bring up an issue he had with his boss but decides to go public with a letter that hurts their brand anyway? Couldn't you just try to resolve this internally instead of leaking company communication, which in almost any other job is enough to get fired and/or sued?

But that's the point, couldn't they halt the letter being published to see how their new org would react to their concerns?

I understand why regi cut sean but I don't agree with it. regi cares more about his brand than actually getting results with his team and considering sean is the only good available igl tsm is fucked

I think that a lot of people would've cut sean for what he did, it's less about his brand and more about his ego

summer 2015 he beat prime fnatic in a bo3 and got second place at three international tournaments. there are also no other good igls available or would go to tsm.

I feel like this is what will hurt the community. Monopolizing the pro scene is hurtful, especially if some small startup league tries to do so.

Shit like this is why I hope TF2 never gets to be "big", just sustainable.
If I wanted that much drama and con artistry, I'd be playing other games.

https://slingshotesports.com/2017/01/04/pea-players-vote-to-play-in-esl-pro-league-professional-esports-association/

If anyone wants an update, the players voted if they wanted to play in the EPL or the PEA, and the players voted for the EPL. So PEA is probably done for.
