in game voice problems?

people say they cant understand me. I have an ok mike, people hear me in mumble and discord just fine. I know they updated the voice codec or whatever, but I have no idea what that means. Help would be appreciated.

is it using a different microphone? i believe tf2 uses the "default" microphone set on your computer.
so maybe you're using a good headset microphone on discord/mumble, but tf2 is set to use some sort of built in microphone
