Sir John Hurt was for me an inspiration when I was in high school theater. His shakespearean performances were breathtaking, and his roles as villains and antiheroes transfixed me. His roles in 1984, V for Vendetta, and Only Lovers Left Alive (to name a fraction of my list) are personal favorites of mine.
I will not mourn this man because he deserves better, and maybe I do not have that right because I did not know him. I will say that this next chapter of his legacy, and his subsequent relief from this world into the next, is most well earned.
