I just got an idea I think could be really nice for the game. A way to reward good players, so they just don't have to repeat and repeat a game without getting anything for it. To get you into it, I'll start with a storytime.
When I started TF2 for the first time, I had heard stories about Australium players. I have heard that they was disgustingly good at the game, and that it was impossible to beat them. Fair enough, I did believe it, and I simply just ended up running the fuck away when I encountered one.
Now as I am more experienced, I know this isn't always the case. People doesn't get australiums for their skilllevel. They get them for either: Luck or Money. People that has an australium is mostly traders or MvM players. Sure, there are some really skilled ones out there, but most of them aren't really above average since they spend most of their time in a trade server. This means that australium doesn't reflect anything else than a reskin of a weapon. It doesn't define the player.
So to get into my idea, there is this Hale's Own sort of thing when you get a spesific amount of kills on a strange weapon. What if we made it like that: [examples]
> If you get so many (kills) on a spesific weapon, you'll get a platinum version of it. Lets say you have to get about 20 000 kills with just 1 weapon. The weapon will be untradable. Now I also think you should remove the fact that people can just farm bots and shit on a server, so instead make it casual, competitive and (ETF2L, TF2center ...) and such, just so it just counts real kills.
> Winning a spesific amount of TF2 leagues.
> Getting insane frags (airshots, medpicks, dominations) in TF2center, ETF2L, etc (...)
Also, this weapon can give away a killstreak platinum eye effect or something. Something that is spesific to this weapon? Therefore, people got something to work for. So what do you think?
Leave a feedback below and tell me why you agree or disagree.

getting x number of kills on a strange doesnt make you a good player and i dont think that actual good players will care about another reskin

I was kind of looking for ideas. What do you then think shall be measured to get this weapon?

maybe make it like the souvenier weapons in csgo so you get a special gun for making a fat play in an official or winning the league/cup

Why not a weapon which has a sheen, color, effect, etc that reflects your k:d or score placement in recent games of casual/matchmaking. Like if I went 5:1 with a ton of doms as soldier in badwater then when I join a harvest pub my Rocket Launcher will like spicy and peacocky.

If we're talking about skins, Valve should release a Competitive Case, where 50% or more of the overall profit from the cases/keys go to a TF2 LAN hosted by Valve. Some ideas for items within the case:
Team stickers (Froyo, EVL, Se7en, maybe even some long gone ones like Mixup, Reason, HRG, etc.)
Player signatures (puts a little "Signed by ____" in the item's description. Would probably reduce the usefulness of gift wrap, but meh.)
Team themed skins (strange versions could modify the strange level text, like "Alle's Own Se7en Stickybomb Launcher" or "Nursey's Own Froyotech Medigun")
kind of unrelated to what the OP was talking about but it got my brain jogging

That might work! I edited my post to suit it abit more, but since it isn't entirely choosen how this will work, I will list quite a few ideas there, and I'll keep editing it once someone comes with more. :)

rule of thumb when u think of these ideas: if valve thinks it wont make money, then it prob wont be in the game since the game caters to pubbers more and ur idea is restricted to competitive parameters

My friend had an idea of having a competitive case with some of the profits going to the lan with competitive inspired things if teams get established. So like more common items would be team stickers and player signatures, but rarer items would be team unusual effects like e.g a froyo logo circling around your head. Also as a rare item you could have team sweatbands, which have like team logos with colours on the merc's wrists, which show up in your first person view.

At least I don't still cling to the hope that Valve is gonna treat TF2 like anything more than a guinea pig.

If you think putting out suggestions and ideas is "clinging to hope" in any way then you're even less smart than I thought you were

The fact that this is something only Valve has the power to grant would mean clinging to the hope that they will notice.
This isn't rocket science.

Then why don't they test out how competitive team themed cosmetics will be received by the community?

Their MM test should tell you enough about how well that will go.
Comp TF2 started outside of Valve's plans and has sustained itself as such. Considering their Quick Play system ruined the pub community aspect that made the game as they designed it so much fun, I'm not keen on trusting them to know any better what to do with 6's. They can go on about how they're justified in not wanting server owners making money off their game or whatever, but considering how much money community cosmetics make them, that's pretty damn hypocritical.
They've made it clear how they won't accept 6's the way it is for no other reason than "it's not what we imagined" or whatever. All they see is money, and that's not what 99% of the comp community plays this game for.
tl:dr Valve's just gonna half-ass such a test, based on their track record.

snip.
But Valve could release a cosmetics crate or even just put the items in the mann co store, if they sell in TF2, then they can adapt the idea to CS and Dota, where they're sure to sell even more.
