Basically ECS is getting paid to broadcast ECS on youtube. Also youtube is going to do some sort of stuff to help the players in ECS build their youtube channels or something (which obviously is a good thing for youtube too). I don't see much of an impact from this onto the rest of esports BUT it is a sign that youtube is really looking at gaming as something to invest in.
I'm excited to see twitch (amazon) going up against some big time competition for viewership. Competition will be good overall for the viewers.

Im pretty sure ESL Pro League CS only gets like 15k viewers max per game when YT bought exclusivity. In last season, big matches often topped 130k on twitch.

Yeah, the viewership is a lot lower but the idea is to force streaming sites to innovate and improve since they'll have competition. That said right now it's really just youtube paying to get select leagues and twitch has everything else :/

YT really need to up their game, not gonna lie. No mods in chat, no emotes either. Results in a boring chat, russians spamming russian, spamming referral and stuff. Not the best experience imo.

The ability to pause and rewind the stream is extremely nice. Only positive over twitch rn imo
