My apple earbuds of 3 years started making noise in the background, it occasionally turns off if my computer isnt producing any noise but the second it makes a sound the background noise resumes, are my earbuds dead?
seems to be my soundcard, anybody know how to fix? it just developed this issue

My laptop does this with any earbuds but that's because the soundcard in it is trash.
Could be the buds or your soundcard.
Test earbuds with different devices, test computer with different buds.

Check the rear headphone jack also if you're just using the front to confirm if it's actually your soundcard

reseat your sound card (if it's a separate card) and reinstall drivers if it happens again. had something like this happen with an old computer of mine.
