I'm trying to open some pak files but i've failed after trying several programs, help

Upon googling it, it seems that the programs that open .pak files are: Leinen PAK Explorer, PAK Explorer, Sprite explorer, DePacker, QuArK and Wally

pak is a generic file type so theres no specific program to open all pak files. knowing where the files came from/what u need them for would help

the pak files are from a game i'm currently playing and I'm trying to open them to try and edit something

Yeah, but which game?

Different games have different file formats that may be named the same, so one game's .pak files can be completely different from another game's .pak files.

I don't know the details in depth, but Targem games uses their own format called TPAK for their games, so this script for QuickBMS is likely your best bet.

and found even more complicated files inside so i'm just giving up
