since I began university ive been taking public transit everyday. Say the bus (my town doesn't have a train system) is crowded so people are sitting next to each other, but then it starts to clear, do you stay next to the person you're already seated next to or move to an open seat.
not super important just kind of bored and taking a break from studying, I just stay in the same seat.
:)

only if there's at least 2-3 other pairs of seats that are open, or the bus is relatively empty and it doesn't look like anybody needs to sit there more than you do

If you go to the open seat then you really gotta manspread and take up a ton of room so the person you were next to before doesn’t take it personally.

I stay next to them unless they look uncomfortable, if you move then it looks like you don't like them

If its a guy and you are both "manspreading" it's kinda annoying because I have to put 1 leg on the middle of the path so then I move, but its usually fine next to a girl. Or if someone smells, then you move as well.

i normally just stay there, but if its like a 3 seat bench and youre in the middle, i think its fine to move over if you really want to, but i personally wouldnt stand up and go to a whole other bench

sit on the person next to you
sit on the person next to you
stay in the seat so that when the bus goes around a corner you can pretend to lose your balance and feel the fleeting touch of another human being

Depends on how long you've been sat IMO, if you been sat for 20mins then move kinda BM but if you literally just sat down and someone else gets up I don't think that's abnormal to take the other seat(s)

I just lay down and sleep

I always get on at the first stop, seems like people move if they're nervous, I never really move on the train unless there's a super fat person next to me

Depends if you're a puss and can't handle being fairly close to another human being . Unless you're massive and need space

You're such an alpha Stylax. I'm really impressed that you called him out for using a slight variation on your dialect that means the exact thing, and is to be expected considering that you live in different places. You're the man.

You could just not give a fuck what other people think and take whatever seat you want to take.
I'm also guessing that you don't live in a major metro area because on public transport, you will encounter disgusting people that smell or are simply undesirable to be around, in which case you change seats right away. This is/was the main reason I switched to driving to work every day.
Lastly, you can stand for the whole ride and completely avoid your seating problem.
