I know i shouldn't make a whole thread about this but i don't know what to do. I've been feeling super depressed lately and it's been effecting my grades and my attitude to the point where i don't even want to wake up. I've had problems with depression in the past, first being when i was 14 and i got through it, second time was last year and it was a lot harder and i took medication for it and it helped tremendously. This time however, i'm back on my meds but i don't see a change. I could try changing medication but i don't even have the motivation to try. I just finished exams and the day after i was in the best mood i had been in for years but then the next day i was back too feeling depressed. All i want is too feel happy again and to be the best i can be, and i just can't do that without some sort of help. So if you have any advice or anything that you think might help please, please help a shiity guy out.

I forgot to mention, i tried to in the past but my heath care makes it a pain to schedule stuff like that.

Try something aerobic like running. It will help you relax as well as give you dopamine. It should improve sleep too. Try running 10 or 15 minutes a day to start out and do it at an easy pace. Perhaps with a friend.

Or you could walk your doggo. Doggos can be the best therapy

Avoid repressive coping techniques like doing drugs, alcohol, or eating sugary and fatty foods. After the initial rush, that stuff will make you feel pretty low.

Also, hug your family members and friends. Hugs are essential to health.

TFTV isn't really a great place for this kind of discussion, but for what it's worth...

I would agree with what DoctorSlappy said, exercise is a great way of relieving stress and making you feel much better, I know that it certainly worked for me in the past with coping under the pressure of exams and other hardships. If you do consider using exercise as a coping mechanism then I would advise that you do what is most comfortable for you in sensible routines.

I know that some people find therapy to be somewhat humiliating or degrading, so if this is the case then it would always be worth trying to talk to close friends or family, or people who have gone through it already and can help you out.

Try to stay away from unhealthy coping mechanisms such as alcohol or drugs, it goes without saying that the people who have used these have ended up worse than before.

And keep optimistic man, if your exams are over then you have plenty of time to spend doing what you like :)

The reason that I recommended exercise is that I know from personal experience that getting into better shape and becoming physically stronger and "better" can be a great method of motivation.

Visit a therapist as others say, once you get into that then i'd recommend for you to do activities with friends, start going to gym/working out at home, and be with family when applicable. Getting others in your life will benefit from what I've experienced.

As well as what all of the others are saying, and a diet change as a possible option. I know that sounds a bit strange, but eating foods that are nutritious and energetic rather than the typical American diet of gluten, meats, and sugars is greatly beneficial to not only your physical health but your mental health as well. Not that I am aware of your diet, but just a suggestion. Good luck.

My grades at school were bad, and family relations are unbearable. I started with self-improvement, I decided to study at school better, I used an essay service and various blogs. When everything became good at school, my family began to treat me with more care and understanding, so start from myself and everything will be fine.

See a therapist; if your therapist thinks you need to see a psychiatrist then do so.

Lack of motivation was one of my biggest problems before I was diagnosed. I had terrible panic attacks and didn't want to do anything but stay in my room alone out of fear of the world outside. I didn't want to go on meds either, but trust me when I say that they are a literal lifesaver. Though, like I said before, a therapist is generally able to determine whether or not you're going through a slump that can be talked through or need real medical help.

What you've described show similar symptoms of what I was originally diagnosed with ("Dysthymia," aka a milder depression). It sounds like you are capable of being in a good mood, but the depression swings back at any moment. The total lack of motivation is also a very common symptom, and the same with the lack of incentive to even get out of bed. I highly suggest that you make an appointment with a cognitive therapist and see if you need redirected to a psychiatrist.

Another big thing: don't lie to the therapist. I know from experience it's hard to talk about shit like this to anybody, but it's really important you let them know what's truly going on so they can help you. That's what they're there for. By not telling the full truth, you're only hurting yourself.

Stay safe out there, man. I wish you the best of luck, and I hope you're able to overcome this in one way or another.
