my fps is maxed for no reason

hi i opened tf2 today and my fps is maxed out at 511, it won't go above it. whenever i hit 511 my game lags/stutters a lot and its not nice to play with does anyone know a fix thanks
i have fps_max 999

try fps_max 300, there's some bug shit if your fps_max is set to anything above that

yeah if ur fps goes above 300 if you like load a jump map time speeds up
