Scrambled eggs on toast. Chicken thighs covered in olive and some sort of herb mix baked in the oven for like 45 mins. Sandwiches are cheap too.

beans and rice

1 can of red or black beans
1 cup of rice
1 can of corn
1/2 large onion
jalepenos or other peppers if you like them

cook the rice in your handy dandy rice cooker (if you don't have one of these you're an idiot but cook it on the stove instead i guess)

when the rice is nearly done, dice the onion and start cooking it in oil or butter with some garlic

drain the beans and corn and add those in with the diced peppers. toss in a bunch of cayenne and chili powder and then mix in the rice if you want to just keep the leftovers in one dish. salt and pepper at the end to taste

if you really wanna splurge you can cook up half a pound of hot italian sausage, set it aside, then cook the onion and garlic in the grease from that, then add the sausage back in near the end of cooking

makes like 2-3 meals for like 3 bucks if you don't add the sausage

as a base get a ton of dried beans/lentils/rice and keep in your pantry, comes in handy when you're too lazy to go get fresh groceries.

rice cooker is nice but stove top works just as good if you carefully follow the instructions

whole chicken is always going to be cheaper than pieces, only downside is you have to be man enough to not be grossed out by all the bony bits.

last but not least, ground beef is going to real easy to cook. just put it in a pan season it(i like goya adobo) and move it around on med heat until all the red is gone enjoy with your rice/beans/lentils.

if you've never cooked anything before you're going to suck ass and it's going to be taste terrible but keep on trucking and you'll get better.

if you're health conscious at all keep kale/spinach and dark berries in your freezer for easy blending, I have a nutribullet and it's pretty great. if you don't have a blender then you can just steam your greens instead.
