So I decided to start up TF2 after not having played it for a long time to see what I have missed. It started and played the valve man video. But after that it just turned off. I tried reopening it a few times and it did the same. I tried flushing my configs, reinstalling the game, updating some drivers even tried running it on all default settings. But it still didn't start. Any idea on what might be the issue here?

Sounds like an issue with your custom HUD, try to remove/update it.

yeah don't just "uninstall" from Steam library, go into windows explorer and delete all files in tf folder.
then obviously reinstall and install new hud (if desired) the simple way, check online cuz I used to do it differently than I found this last install.
I had major issues too and this worked for me, just eradicate completely and start from scratch.\
edit: also, check your boot options (delete if u have any you're unsure of) and nice computer.
