Just a week after OMNI5 ESports added Ghostac to its roster, the Invite team has disbanded. As the team’s first season of Invite, the roster did well in their opening match against TFCrew, but faced hardships as the season went further with losses to multiple other teams and the team shuffling its players.
The core of OMNI5 ESports were primarily Intermediate players, with the team placing second in Season 27 of Intermediate after losing to mr popo rocks 2-0 in the IM grand finals. The move up to Invite in Season 28 was a first for many of the players on the roster, as it was the first Invite experience they’d gotten.
According to the team’s former players, the roster dissolution was sudden and unexpected for the team. The team lost torrit and cukei for personal reasons, with both leaving on the same day. With only one roster transaction left due to ESEA Invite rules, the team had no choice but to disband and forfeit all future games.
We briefly talked to the team’s former medic torrit to discuss his situation and how it affected the team.
Well, it was kinda unfortunate really because we only had one roster transaction in the end. cukei quit to pursue his real life commitments so we needed a scout and I felt that I couldn’t coordinate my 9-5 job while playing in both EU and NA. It was really badly affecting my physical and mental health, so leaving OMNI5 and the NA scene is a call I kinda just had to make. With all the unlucky stuff that’s been happening throughout the season, the others thought it best to just call it quits and pull the plug on OMNI5. There are absolutely no hard feelings within the team.
Under the OMNI5 ESports organization, the team placed second in Season 27 for Intermediate, as mentioned earlier. The team also placed second in the Essentials.TF May North American Monthly Cup, albeit under the moniker Gewpcci Gang.
Before the loss of their Scout and Medic, OMNI5 ESports’ roster pre-mortem was:
- Scout: cukei
- Scout: Ghostac
- Roamer: cinnamon
- Pocket: meyy
- Demoman: fygg
- Medic: torrit
