From what I've seen of Syntax in pugs,etc. I'm not sure it's reasonable to call him an IM player. Maybe his strength is in his gamesense, but I haven't seen clear separation from above average open players , and his ESEA record seems to indicate so as well.
In his actual matches played:

S22 4-7
S27 1-2
S28 6-3

well in pugs i dont really try because 90% of players are throwing in the first place especially on faceit and 5 of the in house pug groups ive played in in the past 6 months or so. low IM is basically high open if you go look at scrim logs from the bottom 4 IM teams they arent rolling any high open teams with both teams having a full roster. the reason i would want to find a mid IM team is because i know they would take the game more seriously and it would let me learn more by playing with them and having better players to play with/against i improve 5 times faster in that environment vs playing low-mid open teams and public mge/dm. and if you go look in our matches from this season on verb, most of them i either top damaged top fragged or both. yes some teams werent so great but they are open and thats who we got matched against so thats not up to us.

Syntax is one of the best soldier in Open also he is very polite and nice to everyone. He deserves IM now.
