These threads always get political when stuff like this happens, but I can't believe you guys are trying to say gun control wont really do anything. The only countries doing worse than the united states in terms of gun violence are literal corruption riddled, third world countries like Honduras and Colombia. We are magnitudes worse than our first world peers.
To the guys saying 'muh truck attacks' while yes they do happen they are no where near as common or effective as gun massacres. There is no massive pandemic of truck attacks on the same level as gun massacres in the US anywhere in the world
Taking away literally ALL THE GUNS probably isn't the best way to go but something clearly needs to change if we want to stop seeing these headlines

I hope one day these shooters don't get the infamy they want. Their names and face is always plastered in every news outlet.

TeoFireyes im mocking the people that still say that the us doesnt have a gun problem and that gun control doesnt work, even tho we continue to see these mass shootings mainly in the US.
I dont get this idea that control definately 100% works. It very much does to a point, but fucked up people are always gonna fo fucked up shit. Like, a few years ago we had a school "shooting" in sweden, done with a sword. School shootings are a recent trend, guns are not. Fix the root issue of people feeling so shit that they want to commit mass murder and you fix all of this. My heart goes out to the victims, this shit has to stop.
School shootings are a more recent trend but the sustained higher murder rate in the U.S. due to our enormous circulating supply of guns isn't. Look at other, similar industrialized countries. Nearly all of their murder rates are far lower than ours.
Which gun control measures would prove especially effectual? I honestly don't know. There are 393 million guns in the country. The gun culture is such that buyback programs would encounter tremendous resistance. But solvability aside, the fact that there exist this many in the country in civilian hands is undeniably responsible for our heightened murder rate. Crazy people will exist anywhere. Weapons that allow them to consistently murder 5+ people in sprees? That's a uniquely American problem compared with socioeconomically comparable nations.
I just want to say (this has nothing to do with the post to which I just replied) how fucking angry I get at the desensitization. It's so commonplace we accept it as a normal facet of American life now. It's almost like we've forgotten what it means to actually die; that victims of gun violence are literally gone forever, that there's no recourse for their families whose loved ones are torn away from them because these people will NEVER experience the joy of seeing their mother, father, son, daughter, brother, or sister ever again.

if that guy had a gun he would have killed more than 3 people.
If everyone on the venue had a gun he wouldn't even tried to do such thing

lol what
You make it seem as if everyone in there was 8 year old kids playing cops and robbers... People are not as "stupid" to not being responsible enough to know how to use a gun in self defense

its honestly fucking disgusting how many of these shootings happen and how seemingly nothing has been done to solve the issue
how many of your kids have to be murdered before you realise that something has to change?

It takes years of careful training and desensitization to be able to raise a gun and calmly shoot a person who's trying to shoot you. It takes many, MANY days of practice involving highly-competent and trained individuals to pull off an engagement involving panicked people and guns without killing [too many] innocent people. In a specific setting. Life isn't a fucking action movie, and all of you people who seem to believe you're all just secret Rambo waiting to be set free, would be the first to shoot into a crowd of random people "in self-defense" while shitting, pissing and ugly-crying all over yourself.
ETA: That's not to say I would oppose this level of training for people to get their hands on guns, but that would be some extremely stringent gun control. :)

It's not like he'd be afraid of dying, he killed himself.
