Title. I'm looking for a 144hz monitor, this one's like 200 eur so it's fairly cheap. Any experiences with it? What's the catch? Or is there no catch and it's just a good deal?
Its VA, bad smearing, purple artifacts. The new 1080p 144hz IPS are like 200 already.

If this is purely for competitive gaming if you look around you can find a 240hz around $250. I got my LG 27GK750F-B on amazon warehouse open box for $220.

Without going into too much detail, my country is crap, most big retailers don't ship here directly and every 240hz I've seen here has been $450+

Almost every monitor manufacturer is either releasing or has released one. LG ultragear, AOC 24G2U, Acer and Asus, etc. The cheaper models have a 23.8 inch panel from Panda(?) but there's also a 24.5inch AUO panel. They're all new, so it'll take a couple weeks for reviews to trickle through.

If they're new it's gonna take a long while till I see them in stores here
Anyway you seem to know your shit, so what do you think about AOC? I hadn't heard about them till a few weeks ago, they seem to make affordable monitors but I have no idea if they're actually good or just some off brand Chinese garbage

AOC is actually a pretty old company that used to make decent CRTs. I do know that Chinese companies like AOC sometimes use the same panels as the name brands do, you just have to look for specs/reviews of that specific model. FWIW, I've had a good experience with my cheap Chinese monitor (Monoprice 240hz).
In general, I would recommend spending a little more (250usd vs 180-200) vs getting something that's going to have ghosting/smearing issues. I made that mistake myself, and the only reasonable upgrade from a smeary 1080p 144hz monitor was something like a 240hz one, since it doesn't make sense to shell out another 200+ dollars just for some smoothness and no more hz.
