audiosurf, beat hazard, sonic allstars racing, organ trail, pressure, hell yeah, and final fantasy 7 have all kept me entertained when not grinding my face against the millstone of tf2.
If you are in the mood for visual novels (ignanock was fully translated sometime ago) that's also a good way to kill time, if you're not quite that anime I would suggest To The Moon.
rollercoaster tycoon and heroes of might and magic are always super cheap on GoG too

MR_SLINtviq swears by the Samsung and I was planning on buying it myself. it reportedly has the lowest input lag.
benq I hear is a solid monitor. can't go wrong there but if you're on the cheap there's probably better options

Don't know/care if tviq uses the 700d but I've used it for quite a while now and haven't had any real issue. It seems to have a penchant for burnt pixels, but other than that I've never had any issue with input lag or inconsistency or anything. Been rock solid on every front and the colors are excellent.

why would you need flac compatibility at all
what is the purpose of having flac compatibility? It's been proven time and time again that in blind listening tests it is indistinguishable by the human ear from v0/320 cbr. If you have a fuck ton of music you should just use v0 because you want to get as much music as possible on to your player. Unless you want like 60 albums total on your player, flac is wildly unnecessary.

FA2sy_morphiendInfinite Jest, The Stranger, The Pale King,Gravity's rainbow, and White Noise are all up there. I'd give it to IJ every day of the week though.
The Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison deserves a mention as well, and as cliched as it is I'd also put Heart of Darkness on any top 10.
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead, No Exit, and Waiting for Godot for top plays.
You read Gravity's rainbow? I was so confused I had a migraine after that book.
I loved gravity's rainbow, pynchon is a miracle worker even if reading him can be akin to reading the diary of a heroin addict in withdrawal.
