Clanarena in the arena shooter of your choosing is the closest you'll get, afaik. Tribes 2 used to have some fiercely competitive groups back in the day, but it was nothing as organized as tf2 is nowadays. Obviously it felt different, but that and tf2 are probably the games where I've enjoyed the mechanics of moving and shooting the most.

I've been a big fan of c4 mousepads for a while now. They're ultra low friction, thanks to the fact that they're basically just a sheet of teflon with a non-slip backing. The standard ones come in sizes up to 36" x 20", but I seem to recall that you could order arbitrarily large sizes, or get custom desk coverings, since they're made by an industrial supply company.

Call them for a quote and cover your kitchen counters in teflon.

For real though, since it looks like it's just the casing coming apart, I think the cheapest fix would be to get a vinyl/fabric glue and try gluing them back down, should run you about $3. Should be able to apply and let it set while you sleep.
