Amazing stuff! Had a great little story too it, vocals were fantastic!
Make more please!
Was pleasure to have you as part of our team! Can't ever get enough hard workers with clear a passion for the game. Look forward to the next event where I'm sure people will start a fundraiser just to get YOU here :P
Geegeeeeee!!
Great episode guys!
For the record. In ref to about 17 mins, TF.TV was mentioned during the build up to the grand final, it was mentioned a few times in the casts (at least by myself, and Sal might have shouted it a few times), and it featured on a poster I made which was dotted around our stage (back of the casting monitors) etc...
Regardless of any casting / streaming rivalry between the two organisations, myself and the rest of the VanillaTV crew realise the importance of the Teamfortress.tv website for the community. It's hands down the best centralised hub the game has ever had and it has single-handedly united the largest competitive TF2 scenes making events like i46 and i49 even possible. Us promoting it benefits everyone in the scene, including us.
Could have probably promoted more but honestly some of us (maybe just me) do feel a little bitter at a couple of the TF.TV's EU staff's attempts to shun us out of the picture at this LAN (instead of trying to work together) so it's not surprising the TF.TV logo wasn't everywhere on our production. Most of the TF.TV crew are awesome, but when those guys few grow up, our organisations will have a healthier rivalry that is far more positive than negative. The good news is, I feel our organisations are working much better together nowadays and I can only see this improving in the future.
The problem with crit-a-cola is that 25% extra damage taken and dealing minicrits are not proportional. receiving 25% damage isn't that much, but dealing minicrits have the bonus of not losing damage over distance, which is a huge difference. Combine this with the scout being able to choose when to activate this ability, and the extra speed boost, it becomes a lethal weapon.
Say I'm sitting on 30 HP, a single rocket is going to kill me regardless of the extra 25%, but now I can run up with a speed increase and almost 1 shot a medic from a decent distance.
I feel if the scout took minicrits instead of 25% extra damage, it would balance it a little more, but it is a hard one to balance as whatever you do with it, it is going to berserker mode a weak scout. Maybe make him take 100% more damage, or regular crits, so the only viable reason for using the unlock is when you have virtually no health left and want to go in for a last ditch effort.
I want there to be more shit talking (or even more positive discussions) between the continents. It maintains hype and makes questions want to be answered. If no one cares, we won't get funding for future events and I personally want to see this tournament happen again, either on the same scale or even greater!
You don't ban stock weapons. You only ban unlocks.
It's hard to talk to people about weight. Firstly, determining if someone's weight is a problem is often down to opinion. You get large figures who are very healthy, you get large figures who are very unhealthy but pretend they are healthy, you get skinny people who are role models for 'the healthy body', you get ridiculously skinny people who are borderline dying. Large rugby / football players etc... It confuses everyone as to what is acceptable and so there aren't any strict guidelines.
For some people, they know they are bigger than others, and probably bigger than they would like to be, but they do not see it as an actual problem because others are far worse than them. Others also have no motivation to lose any weight. It's simply not worth the effort involved for the 'small rewards'.
I think the key to persuading someone to lose weight is not to tell them to do it. They have to feel like their weight is preventing them from doing something they would like. Sure, people do not like to be insulted and so that in itself can be a motivation to lose weight, but you can try some more indirect methods.
Going to a theme park, getting denied entry onto a roller coaster.
Going swimming, they could feel too conscious to get into a bikini while their friends do.
Clothes shopping, you pick up a dress, they like it but it's not available in their size.
Participate with all your friends in a fun sport, cycling or just a hike up a mountain. They could struggle to keep up.
Of course all of this stuff would put a person down. You would just kind of have to hope it is enough to motivate them to do something about it rather than just make them sad / depressed. It really is a tricky road to navigate around. This can be made easier if you are in a similar situation to them as you can try to motivate both of you to go lose some weight together, but ultimately it's going to come down to how they feel about themselves, and their opinion is going to carry much more weight than yours.
I'm sure it will get done very shortly. I'm just getting back to reality but I believe there are still a lot of foreigners yet to go home!
JLelongAporia was really huge, and i'm not seeing enough people giving him credit for that.
I told him in person he was carrying even though people were focussing their attention on Yuki and Sheep. If I did a top 5 LAN MVP's, there's a strong chance he would feature in there.
BetaDontubermeGreat job VTV for most everything. The only thing that bothered me that hasn't been mentioned is that I really disliked it when you would show the caster's faces during rollouts. It wouldn't bother me if they were small and in the corner, but you showed them at the same time as the double camera and gave their faces the same amount of screen real estate. Midfights are often the most exciting/important part of matches and I can't think of a time when the caster's faces should have equal screen space.Show Contentunless it's arx.
Arx enjoyed this comment!
He did ^__^
At the end of the day, I'm sure players will still want to come over, so if we can fund it, I don't see why it can't happen.
As long as we as fans of the game enjoy watching and participating in these tournaments, and are willing to throw either small donations or time / effort into making these things happen, we can keep this going. Maybe in the future we can look for corporate sponsorship to try and fund the teams over, giving them details of the level and quality of exposure we could give them.
I'm exhausted! Still have to cast more!
Nickpeople make pushes because they are bored!
This might be the most retarded statement i've ever read about tf2. American rules DO produce faster gameplay because its not viable strategy to stall at 20 minutes and 1 second into the map. Theres a big difference between getting 5 rounds in 60 minutes compared to a 30 minute timer, European rules are terrible and it amazes me they still haven't changed them.
Uh huh... This is incorrect. What you are assuming is that the game is faster up until the point where the clock comes into play. I consider it to be the opposite. When the clock comes into play, the winning team has the option to attempt to slow the game down, but the attacking team only has the option to get points back. They can't sit and wait for anything so they have to make pushes.
When time left isn't a factor, teams have time to build ubers, wait for picks, wait for players to respawn before they attempt pushes. Your goal is to gain ground in the game. If you are currently down one or more capture points, then you can gain ground without ever pushing the enemy. All you need to do is stalemate the round and you gain all the ground you've lost up to the mid point. Obviously attacking team would want to attack in this scenario (because a stalemate means they lose ground), but if the attacking team is currently winning the match, and there is a timelimit (30 mins or 60 doesn't matter) then they wouldn't want to either. This is the scenario I described in my above post.
What I was implying with that 'bored' statement, is that in a match where there is no time limit, there would mathematically be scenarios where both teams would not want to make a push because pushing is less favorable than not pushing (not just for the outcome of the round, but the outcome of the whole match). But that would mean sitting around doing nothing until the round stalemated (if we want to be technical, the team holding mid would never want it to stalemate but would want to make a final attacking push at a time when it would be impossible for the other team to cap mid should the push fail although with overtime it could be capped at anytime).
But people aren't always fussed about what is mathematically favorable, they want to play the computer game, and since the mathematics can be influenced significantly more by ones death-match ability and team fight positioning, teams will often ignore the 'base risk' and just make a push because they can't be bothered to sit around and wait for the small (but still evident) mathematical advantage. When money is on the line, people will be much more reluctant to push when they are at a disadvantage (even if it's small). This is what Enigma was on about in his first post.
