Regarding pc rental: you order it on the website, you get some sort of ticket you can print out, take this piece of paper and some form of ID to the rental pc stand, they give you hardware, you sign for it. Pretty straight forward, would recommend if you have the money (and especially if you're from some European country because travelling with essentially half your life in the shape of a stupidly expensive metal box isn't exactly my idea of fun times).

A quick google search told me the following: Apparently drives are shielded and the fields from speakers not that strong in the first place (unless you like put the drive inside your 20" subwoofer).

Try the following

bind "KEY" "toggle hud_saytext_time 0 10"

It defines how long text in chat stays visible. It doesn't make chat you can already see go away any quicker if you put it to 0, but any chat incoming after you set it to 0 will be invisible, and vice versa.

You can always access the chat to type and read up via whatever you enter-chat-key is (defaults are Y and U), even if the chat is hidden.

I don't think you necessarily need half a dozen maps. I'd rather have a small number of maps, so there's a high chance you actually play all of them over the course of the afternoon. Without having to do 7h of mixchamp.
