#53 fucked my tailbone in TF2 General Discussion

Currently reading Livy's history of the Second Punic War, would strongly recommend if you're into Roman history.

#14 The game we've all been waiting for. in TF2 General Discussion
DunderBrowait so have the game been played?

Look at the left side of the teamfortress.tv page, you'll see it under "Upcoming Events". It's going to be tf.tv's very first stream and it's gonna be a party.

brownymasterWhat are the reasons for allowing those 4 and not any others? Is it mainly to preserve most of the metagame or to keep out annoying stuff/nonstandard play (and thus avoid 30 page discussion threads)?

It's to keep it as close to the original game as possible because they feel that it was how the game was balanced, and ultimately, how it was intended to be played.

#26 Let's Talk About Newbie Mixes in TF2 General Discussion

Having a standard operating procedure for coaching would probably help things a lot. A checklist of sorts of things to go over when coaching could be very useful, so things like:

[] Explaining rollout procedure and general class roles in 6v6
[] Explaining the midfight (where to hold, what each class does at mid, etc.
[] Explaining pushes, pull-outs, and other tactical maneuvers for the forward/last fight
[] What to do if your team is losing players, when to get out, when you should try for picks etc
[] When to off class, and what off classes are useful for what situations

More detailed coaching can be given for each individual class such as when a roamer should bomb, when to focus building uber, when to force the enemy uber, and even more specific coaching such as what a player did wrong in a particular situation or what they should have done can then be given out. That said, it can be easy to become overwhelmed with information, particularly if you're really new to 6v6 or TF2 in general, so taking it slow and making sure to explain yourself clearly is vital.

#71 MGE / SOAP Ettiquette in TF2 General Discussion
PUFFTHERE IS NO ETIQUETTE IN THE REAL GAME

Seconded, for all the people I see complaining about etiquette in MGE/SOAP I think of all the people who complain when you shoot them while they're trying to melee you.

That said, wearing mantreads in endif is one of the most EVIL things you can do.

conductortf2 isn't really a big enough game for mgo's to see roi, which sucks but it's true.

If MLG picked up TF2 6v6 like the vote numbers said they should on that one poll, this would no longer be true...

I would like to see less sandbagging in the lower divs, since it ruined Steel and probably Iron too.

#19 FULLY CHARGED Discussion and Feedback Thread in TF2 General Discussion

The show felt somewhat meandering, and the guests felt a little tacked-on at times (unless they were directly speaking to something). The guests didn't really feel part of the whole conversation, which is something you can work on after they've been introduced. Like you said, the format has changed, and the guests come in towards the end of the show and all, but they still felt a little 'excluded' to me, unless they were talking about their own teams. No disrespect to anybody, but having guests who can riff with the main guys would be cool and would feel more natural.

Would definitely recommend moving past the 'free hat' thing as already said in the thread. After a certain point, people need to watch Fully Charged for the content and not for unusuals. This can be helped by keeping the conversastion coherent and on-point.

Also I'm not sure Fully Charged needs to be as long as it is. Cutting it down to a 15 or 20 minute show would help focus a lot, provided you can keep it informative and entertaining. I'd leave the 30-minute+ shows for special coverage like post-LAN or leading up to playoff season where there's lots to talk about and lots to get through. Brevity is the father of wit or however that saying goes.
