match.tf is now back online with a new hosting location and new ownership under Printstream.
Why has this happened? We heard that match.tf would end up shutting down very soon due to increasing costs and we didn't want to see that happen to such a useful service within our competitive TF2 scene.
Printstream exists to empower esports, especially within TF2, we operate the EssentialsTF production org, the LANTF website, livestream graphics grid system, Twitch Essentials YouTube Channel and more. We're excited to bring match.tf into the Printstream group and build on the work laid down by 200.
We're keeping the Discord the same for everyone (Join here!) and the existing site admins will be kept on to help everyone out as always!
yak404cups are good
cups are even better with switzerland system
Swiss system in the future is on the cards - but we'll need to overcome the problems in the past running Swiss in a cup (match delays preventing next round generation, signups numbers being less than non-Swiss cups).
charleseasons can be a drag at 7+ weeks but cups with 8 hours of tf2 in 1 day are not much better
i think if cups were formatted better they would be much more popular
- one of the biggest issues ive had with cups is being one of the higher end open bracket teams who just play vs noobs all day and get knocked out vs a prem team in the first bo3 and see the teams who we rolled over get rewarded by not going up against a prem team but continuing in an open bracket (could some kind of new div for the prem mizes / div1 teams be implemented to prevent div 1 vs low in the groups?)
+ also as a team leader i really appreciate that i didnt have to give like 10 links per teammate for this last tournament, so thanks for that
i think a cup over a few weeks / weekends but not 2 months is something we should try too
A better structure for the top level teams to compete on a more even playing field is 100% something we're looking to change in the future.
We understand that as a team leader a lot of information is required, usually we wouldn't ask for emails for every teammate but in the DreamHack cup prize money is being sent to each player in the team. Hindsight now says we will just ask for the extra details when required after the cup ends.
As for ETF2L links etc, in the past it is a MASSIVE pain when people put all different varieties of steamids (steam2s, steam3s, steam64s, vanity urls etc, incorrect ids entirely), using ETF2L profile urls, we can lookup the steam64 ids from them, and it should be something that is easier to get hold of for team leaders over steamids and something with a lower chance of being fudged (thought this did happen on some somehow).
Multi-weekend sounds great in theory but in practice it is made more difficult when say ETF2L seasons are on - more thought needs to be put into that viability
bearodactylNA version next pls? :D
The future, anything is possible......

TurboTabsHello old friend. It's been a long time.
Doesn't it just bring back those 2016 cold swedish memories with early morning flights and sitting in airports?
JojoNa (combo preferably)scout lft probably around the top end of division 2 of etf2l skill level if I'm understanding the etf2l website correctly. If there is a better place to advertise feel free to let me know.

FAQs
Q: What region is this cup focused on?
A: This is an EU focused event but teams are welcome to join from other regions however servers will be EU-based unless both teams agree otherwise before a match.
Q: Why is the prize pool in dollars?
A: DreamHack’s sponsorship for the prize pool is being provided in US Dollars (USD).
Q: What servers are being used for the event?
A: Teams decide together which server to play the match on. Server rentals from serveme.tf/ are recommended. Please ensure the correct config/whitelist is used. If your match is to be casted live on twitch.tv/dreamhack, the server details will be provided to you by the tournament administrators.
Q: What config/whitelist is being used?
A: All matches are to be played with the 6v6 Season 37 version of the ETF2L config and the latest version of the ETF2L item whitelist. Golden cap rounds have a different ruleset (see rule 6.3 on Toornament).
Q: How are golden cap rounds played?
A: Golden cap is used for all matches in playoffs. Golden cap has a 10 minutes time limit. If no team has captured the last point from the enemy team by 10 minutes the team holding mid wins the golden cap round.
Q: Will this tournament be using the new plug-ins from ETF2L S37?
A: Yes, full details of the plug-ins used can be found on the ETF2L website. If, however, there is a significant amount of negative feedback or a wish to revert those changes becomes apparent we would be open to adapting the rules to accommodate.
Q: Are mercs (unrostered players) allowed?
A: If opponents agree, teams are allowed to use a maximum of 2 mercs who are not on the Toornament roster. (rule 3.4)
Q: Why can't I have more than 6 players rostered?
A: We have limited the main roster size to 6 as any prize payout will be sent to each individual player. By limiting this to 6, we can ensure fair payouts to the primary players.
Q: Will we need to check in at the start of the tournament?
A: All teams will need to "check-in" on Toornament on the morning of November 14th prior to the tournament commencing otherwise you may risk disqualification.
Q: How do we communicate with the tournament administrators and other teams?
A: The EssentialsTF Discord MUST be used for all tournament information and communication. https://essentials.tf/discord.
Q: I want to help out with the event production! How do I contact you?
A: Please contact ArchRhythm#1312 on Discord or email adam.lloyd@essentials.tf.
Q: Can I get a medal by donating?
A: Medals will only be distributed to players in the cup and the staff working on the cup. We cannot accept donations for medals.
I promise the upcoming cup we're planning will be an attractive, grand affair. We've got some further news coming out before the end of the month.
