IntellectualMarxistMarxist's postThere was a game called loadout that had energy weapons that functioned similarly to LG's from Quake, but had sweetspots within the beam. Could the flamethrower work like this, with the sweetspot close to the player using the flamethrower?
This is actually a good idea imo.
Looking at the videos in OP's post, you see that the flameThinks shoot out the same amount of damage no matter what range, they just get wider. This "sweetspot" remedy could allow it to be so that the farther you are the less damage you take and the less afterburn you will have. The closer you get, the deadlier it gets. Referring to what Marxist said, "(what range would be appropriate?)"
I think if this "LG" Method is used, it'd be a good idea to make his flamethrower a more medium range weapon, but making the very tip of the flames just do such piss damage but then when your right in front of the pyro, its heavy levels of shred.
I had the thought of making it so that the flamethrower works like a lightning gun in both flame and airblast. I think this would require a lot more skillful tracking and allow for valve to let all the flamethrowers have different sprays. For instance the default flamethrower has good damage and has a tight spread with flames and airblast, meaning you will have to aim pretty close to the player to do flame damage and airblast things away. Then for maybe say, The Degreaser, it has low damage with its wide and tall flame and airblast region. Just a thought.
The rapid speed in which you can send off airblasts is pretty OP imo too.
I recently watched these two movies and these are my opinions on them:
Only God Forgives (2013) (Nicolas Winding Refn) 7.8/10
Only God Forgives is Refn's follow up to his, in my opinion, masterpiece, Drive. Without saying anything about the plot except that it may disturb you, I can safely say that the more I think about this movie and understand it, the more I like it. This film is slow and many people question its methods of telling its story, but I believe that, if focused enough, you can wait until the next advancement of story by taking in all the beautiful cinematography. The lighting and Cinematography is perfectly captured with great detail and really speaks about the dark nature of the film. Plus, it's got Ryan Gosling in it.

Black Mass (2015) (Scott Cooper) 7/10
Black Mass is a crime film about the real life mobster, Whitey Bulger. In this film, Johnny Depp plays out the events of how Whitey gained such power, and through doing so, exemplifies a truly nightmarish performance. I would call this a very good example of how to take a figure from real life and transfer that person onto the screen. Apart from this, I can't brag about anything else in this movie so lusciously. The second best thing to really mush about is the suspenseful action scenes of Whitey exacting violence upon others. The scenes are very bare bone with character and differentiation from other films action and use of violence and the only thing that saves it from not being too bad is its great use of score and Johnny Depp's performance. I love the stone cold look he has every time he kills someone. Aside from those factors, The cinematography is okay, the performances are decent besides Depp's, his is amazing, and story is plain and simple. It's a decent film.
why is this allowed to happen, valve.

this Clint Eastwood hair style has only been achieved once. If only it was possible to get it like that again lmao
I play while we run Cross Country and its a great way to get my mind off how I can barely breath and how bad my body hurts.
