i was too lazy to try and do this but the basic idea was the colored bits would change depending on team/health status
You could just make the image of the viewmodel integrated into the hud, it would be static tho

It all depends on what your power management settings are, and as far as fps configs go, are you sure you don't have a fps cap, and if you don't are you sure your autoexec.cfg is in the tf/cfg or tf/custom/customfiles/cfg folder?
