VulcanI would recommend using vtf crosshairs, http://www.teamfortress.tv/30866/guide-weapon-specific-custom-crosshairs much easier to set up and lots more control

I'm trying to get a custom crosshair for my hud and it refuses to work. I've seemed to pinpoint the issue in either the the location of the font or the clientscheme.res file

TobMade an album with some suggestions and issues I remember from when I played it a lot. Used to pub this map almost exclusively back when Skial had a 247 server of it. Fun map but definitely has a ton of issues. Probably forgot some things. Might add more to the album later. Good luck improving the map :)

Thanks for your suggestions to the second and last points, but the mid point is okay as I suggested: Filled in and have smaller packs spread out in the room. There's too little packs in the mid area, forcing you to retreat or rely on medics/engies. The pre-mid rooms are okay without a staircase as it gives too much of an advantage to the player with the high ground.

I definitely like your 2nd/4th point ideas and will try to make them happen.

I too used to play on that Skial 5Gorge server until they replaced it with a different map.

This is currently in the theoretical stage. These ideas aren't too hard to make happen. Its mostly just some simple work in the Hammer editor.

MouldGorge has almost no interesting geometry to fight in - in my opinion its very basic, similar to my maps heh!

I don't think 5gorge is particularly salvageable for highlander due to the lack of space and sightlines that overarch through the entirety of mid, second and last

I think for 6s it could work if you rebuild it. I would recommend using mid from the original. S shape it instead, using the more interesting side areas instead of cutting it off mostly. You would also have to rebuild the 2nd to split it - you would want to use the current side to blo k vision of a s potential flank then bring the rest round as well in order to shape it to make the flank not worthless

At this point you could change the theme and you'd be fairly close to passing it off as your own map. I'd say take the interesting components and do that, because no matter how good you make gorge everyone will write it off ad shit immediately

The most important part of the map is too enclosed for jumping classes, but making the ceiling open directly over the point and maybe the catwalks around it, it would be okay as a highlander as there are only 2 people on a team of 9 to suffer instead of 3 people on a team of 6 jumping around in a box.

Note how I marked the overview, I'll go under specifics and what should be done. Here's a small guide for reference: Points and spawns are color coded on a per team basis for people who read this and haven't played 5Gorge. Yellow, purple and green are things to be changed.

Yellow: A new flank route that could be added that could be used in place of the current passage on that side anyways

Green: An opening to the roof/gazebo/overhang on the second and fourth points. This is present on the Halloween version, but not the normal one.

Purple, a window or straight up removing this wall could work to open it up and placing some cover on the ledge near it would reduce a very powerful sight line created by this change.

I think this would be good for the map rather than changing the whole map. I still want people to know that this is 5 Gorge and not a different map. Though that does give me a few ideas for a future map...

Let me just say that if you want it to be 6s, there's nothing you can do.

I know that in 6s there's no bringing it into it, but it would make for a very interesting highlander map

YeeHawyou should probably open up the roof of mid (like process last). it's a very low ceiling which makes it bad for soldiers and is very 'straight' i guess? so sniper is probably extremely good at mid, very long sightlines and also no props for scouts so i think you should definitely change the mid up a lot.

I'm looking to possibly make a more viable version of 5 Gorge from its current state. I like 5 Gorge, but I can see the glaring issues with it being a giant choke-point. I feel that adding a few entrances to some of the areas of the map would make it less of a spamfest.
