It was rough this year for me, felt like I was waiting for a thing I honestly liked to come out, Falco from Future of the Left was gunna do a new Mclusky album, but he ended up getting some serious ear infection and cancelled his entire tour, don’t even think he can feel good enough to keep up with the new album (singer from shellac that has a studio) that was gunna get recorded in NA.
Was lucky to get that Oxbow live album tho, getting a quality performance with gold recording plus crazy horns was nuts. If future albums with them don’t have saxophone stuff mixed in I will be bummed as hell. Can’t even go back to shit on the previous albums, it feels like I’m missing something.
I did get lucky with my fav band tho, pile had a new album in February and it’s a fresh breath of air for me. Usually they do stuff to be accurate to how they sound live, true instrumental stuff. But because of Covid and the front man being sorta restricted over the time, he’s sorta getting out of his comfort zone. I didn’t expect them to do an album that felt like a listener only experience, but it turns out after 2 years of solo tours this dude figured out how to make that work. I don’t normally like studio stuff that seems like you can only make it work in production, but this shit is great. Fav bit is how they are doing industrial drumming stuff, it’s the little shit, sounds like they got a 2nd drummer banging on a build site for a new skyscraper.
