There will be a limit of items you can put in a single bet + a limit of one item's value (1 bud). Probably gonna set it to 8, but we'll see what the response will be like.
d4m0Anything that boosts tf2s popularity is probably a good thing, but when I see betting all I think of is problem gambling. I don't know how cs lounge works, but I think (and hope) that what you're saying is that there's no cut being taken out of the bets, and you don't gain anything from people losing? Because while gambling in itself is a bit dangerous, the combination of gambling and the gambling company itself using every psychological trick in the book to make people bet as much as possible is extremely damaging to a lot of people.
Obviously I wouldn't begrudge you making money out of this, quite the opposite considering the work that's been put in and the people who have contributed, I just really want to know that people aren't going to be exploited etc
Anyway yeah I think that's what you have been saying, that all the losers' items are redistributed to the winners, but I can't be sure, and I'm kind of surprised that a thread about setting up a gambling site has gone five pages without really addressing these issues.
Cheers and thanks for taking the time to make something like this, even while you have exams on etcetera
Just to clarify Saloon.tf is a nonprofit project and while I could use some money it'll all be from volunteer donations. I was actually going to take a small cut to cover the costs at the beginning, but that was before I saw the response from the community, I never planned to keep it to myself though, both because of legal and moral issues (although it's much better than random games).
The cut was going to be used to cover the costs and 20% + eventual surplus would be given away to charity (I have to give away at least 20% even if I don't manage to cover the costs)
Only money I can keep to myself is from donations and that'll be only after paying up for servers and stuff.
SystemlessMaybe you could make an option to give your trade offer link to the site, so bots can trade you.
Seems easier thansneding a trade offer everytime.
The bots do actually send you tradeoffer you just have to accept :)
is this what you want? http://cevo.com/event/tf2-6v6/matches/?tg=106
Ma3laaLooks really amazing, good work man. I think if you can though, you should definitely start with esea matches before cevo matches, right now much more esea is being covered than cevo
CEVO will stay since I got great support from them already, but I don't say that you'll have to wait long for ESEA :)
UGC is too big to start with it, no other reason for that, so once it works with others I will expand it :) ESEA might be a little more tricky but we'll see.
I meant the website will be ready, not sure about our assets, but we'll see, it's just a matter of testing, backpack expanders and renting a proper server :)
There's no reddit post atm unfortunately, but should be up in a few minutes. (should've placed a hashtag there)
Updated thread, please don't post anything on other websites yet, want to get the video first and post later today :)
DeetrAny plans for an API for grabbing matches, match times, odds, bets, etc without scraping? Could be helpful for people to write browser extensions and apps more easily.
Currently only have api for matches bets list, but there will be more options before beta :)
