#61 Leagues meet to discuss future of North American TF2 in News

Instead of looking at each weapon individually in a whitelist we could choose between two broader philosophies about banned weapons.

Philosophy A is the current global whitelist (alternatively the b4nny/valve major philosophy) which is to allow everything that doesn't break competitive 6v6.
In other words weapons that nobody uses in serious games because they aren't very good, but don't break the game, are all allowed. Think of the scout primary unlocks; pretty much nobody seriously uses them.

Philosophy B would be like something people have asked for in this/other threads and in the past, where you ban everything that doesn't contribute positively to the game.
Pretty much this would mean memey weapons (like the aforementioned scout unlocks) would be banned, because they are almost never used. Would anyone really care that much if they were banned?
Maybe this wouldn't even be a big deal, because these superfluous unlocks are pretty much only run in non-competitive games anyways, i.e. in games where there is a skill gap between both teams and one/both start memeing because they give up, in aids doublemixes, games of meme teams with meme compositions (that usually consist of sandbaggers anyways), etc.

Why not have a poll where people choose between these broad ideas, and only then discussing individual weapons?

Here's an imgur album with some thoughts in the captions.

Mid to second stalemates seem a bit brutal; there isn't much space for soldiers to easily bomb in deep enough, but there is enough high ground and vision into chokes for scouts and spam to deny said soldier bombs. The house is cramped and easy to spot into from second, bar the shutter door, which is right next to a massive rock somebody surely would be standing on in a stalemate situation. I also see little reason for the team on second to move into the house, as there is plenty of good ground on second itself, so there seems to be little possibility for the attackers to pick someone who overextends, as there is little reason to overextend (except maybe boredom/impatience). At first glance there also seem to be no terribly effective sightlines into/from second bar one (which may not even be intentional, see screenshot), so a successful sac or sniping the stalemate away seems quite difficult. I put some suggestions for soldier bombs from valley in the captions, but the house area at second seems quite unforgiving for the attacking team regardless.

In general second seems a bit cramped with props and height differences, I feel like the second points on popular 5cp maps have a wider and more open area to play in (bar sunshine or metalworks perhaps).

Map needs to be playtested to see what's good and bad of course.

There is some weird clipping on both spires that causes an invisible ledge in between the wooden pillars. I didn't check whether it was there on previous versions.

Also the wall inside spire to make the ledge bear suggested is not the most elegant solution imo (looks a bit out of place), but now the ledge is very visible indeed

I don't think i have ever seen a 30 minute 0-0 stalemate followed by a 58 second golden cap.
