#1 Metalworks in SFM? in Q/A Help

I am trying to find a properly ported metalworks .bsp after it has been through hammer editor. By default I run into the high dynamic range error and mat_fullbright 0 still looks like garbage. I tried porting the map through hammer myself but keep running into the brush error which would take ages for me to figure out and fix. Has anyone out there fixed metalworks for SFM or do you know how I could fix it myself without trying to figure out the brush errors for 5+ hours?

dd5fHey guys i might have found a temporary fix for this issue.

For some reason when i set the playback speed to 600% and then skip ticks it wont crash on me.

I hope that helped atleast some people.

Edit: Also seems to speed up skipping in general. :p

This works for me as well. Always something stupid you gotta do that's so simple to make this buggy thing work properly. HOWEVER, when you try to go back to the tic, after having watched it, it still crashes.

If it's a really nice frag, yeah I'll probably just use the PoV. I prefer player demos because I can make smooths when the occasion calls.

Hey guys, Cal here. I want your awesome frags. I'm primarily looking for 6's frags, though if it's a good enough highlander frag, I see no reason to turn it down. I'm trying out some new things in my editing and want to make a frag video at least 5 minutes long. This will be one of my first decent movie attempts, as most of my edits are.. edits. This may be my last TF2 project so I want it to be as good as I can make it.

If you are interested, please follow my instructions for submitting a demo in the format I would like to receive it in. Watching and making smooths of these things takes a lot of time, so I try to organize the demos as much as possible. I am going to assume that pretty much anyone submitting is using P-rec.

Select your demo and remove any numbers in the beginning of the demo name. Start your demo name with your alias, the map name, then the tic mark or marks slightly before the frag occurred, and finally remove the team names at the end of the demo. Note: you must use an underscore instead of leaving a space in the demo name or else this won't work.

For example:

20150416_1523_cp_process_final_red_blu.dem
frag occurs at around tic mark 37,600.

becomes

Callahan_cp_process_final_37k.dem

Please email your demo file to dahbayst@gmail.com in this format. If your demo is too large to email, upload it to mediafire or something similar and send me the download link.

aside from the weird explosions and poor choice of render settings (or whatever you did) that makes it look choppy on the ytube upload, the edit itself was fine and it's overall a good video. keep up the good work.

ShankyYou'll need GCF Scape to extract the individual particles.
Go to the location of your Lawena installation > lawena (the folder) > custom > pldx_particles. Open this with GCF Scape and copy the [name of custom explosion file].pcf
Put this in your tf > custom folder and you should be good to go on all sv_pure 0 servers.

you misunderstood me. I don't need these for playing. I need this for video editing to record with lawena. As far as I know you can actually get all the .pcf files from bolty's mediafire still. My dilemma is that I love the explosion fx, but I hate the trail it emits on stickybombs/grenades. It just looks bad in a video.

So I understand that lawena 4.0 has bolty's particle pack that you can use by checking certain boxes in the settings. Even though everyone says they're overused yadda yadda, I really really like the explosion fx. It looks really nice with rockets. I noticed that for the stickys/pipes, you can get the explosion fx as well, but it also replaces the original grenade trail/sticky trail with a really ugly partical trail IMO. Is there any way to have the sticky/grenade explosion fx without bolty's particle trail?
