SpaceGhostsCoffeeSpaceGhostsCoffeeJust Ban Snakewater Lol
And risk making it a pain the ass to find people to scrim on Product, Badlands or Propaganda? When everyone else pretty much only want to play or willing to play Gullywash/Process/Sunshine/Metalworks/Snakewater.
It's funny but map banning actually shrunk the effective size of the map pool after years of people begging for maps.
Just looking at map stats and playtime for the league it looks like
A Tier maps <- If you have a hard time finding a scrim on these maps, odds are people/teams just don't like you.
Snakewater
Gullywash
B Tier maps
Metalworks
Sunshine
C Tier maps <- This is where grumbling about a map within a team occurs often but usually isn't a problem.
Granary
Process
D Tier maps ___The Line of maps to avoid if you want to find scrims with minimal bitching/baiting____
Product
F Tier maps
Propaganda
Badlands
This is based on playtime statistics from ESEA however inaccurate the times may be, the spread of how much each map is played is not really that surprising. Considering I was expecting Badlands to be ahead of propaganda and possibly be close to product playtime and that granary is ahead of process are the only things that actually go against what I expect and even then that's just by 1 map placement.
beatriceComangliaI'd be more interested in seeing maximum chaos teams.imagine not including broking on this list
Olgha
Mangachu
Harbleu
Mackey
Hildreth (several former members of lowpander tbh)
Habib
Imagine making this comment when you probably haven't even seen half of these players play.

who bothers to backtrack this hard???
I was fucking there...
It's kinda hard to forget having a match overturned that you won 4-0 because someone decided to be an asshole.
Hell I was told after it happened that I shouldn't have been surprised...
ESL vs RGL imo
As I see it the pros for each
RGL
- Prize Pool confirmed
- LAN pretty much confirmed
- Multiple Skill Divs, logically divided (perhaps a bit more than necessary)
- Actual anti-sandbag enforcement
- Community League that would have admins from the community the very first season.
ESL
- AC Client that can actually work, ESL would have to make it work though
- Massive Platform that long term if Valve actually put time into the game is where TF2 would likely end up anyway... Not to mention possible audience reach for Grand Finals / etc.
- More likely to add a meaningful prize pool or LAN than UGC/TFCL
- Most likely to be able to handle a massive influx of teams/players.
- A ton of other services that ESL might actually get working for TF2.
A short comment on the dashner vs mitch stuff
IDK mitch, but I've had experiences with dashner before. Dashner is great on production for casting but the short time span I was on a team with him he had managed to insult several people to the point he got banned from UGC.
edit
I'm editing out the specifics of what he said and just going to leave the links as it is part of his history and relevant to the conversation. Granted this was 6+ years ago and while he may not feel that way regarding homophobic, racist and sexist comments anymore it still shows how strongly dashner reacts to people he dislikes.
lucrativeComanglialucrativeindecency1 map a week system was betterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
for fun factor sure, but vetos is an objectively more competitive system by far. TF2 is one of the only map based games to have used a forced map rotation for a reason.
ESEA CS had 1 map per week before Season 27...

and they changed it for good reason, hardly single comment on this news post upset about the change. infact a word used pretty often is "progress"
LMAO.
Progress is an ESEA meme from when lpkane said progress on basically every single post he did for ESEA.

not even sure what got him to start doing that but it's on damn near every esea post of his in late 2010 until he stopped.
They could literally revert that change and a lot of those same people would say "progress", they could make a post saying Bitcoin mining re-added to client at least a couple people will say "progress".
A map veto system only works in playoffs / pro level teams. Open/IM teams get NOTHING from a map veto system other than awkward scrim schedules and teams baiting scrims based on map choice or showing up late arguing over which map gets played cause teams have matches. To some extent that happened when teams rescheduled matches but now it's literally every scrim unless both teams happened to pick the same map or play the same 2-3 maps over and over.
Matter of fact by ESEAs own admission they're mimicking ESL Pro but for all divisions. That right there should be a clue for you that literally no other League for a team based FPS used a Map Veto system outside of Professional level teams for regular season matches.
Now the reason the map veto system actually works for playoffs / pro level and NOT Open/IM level teams is due to the fact a lot of those Open and IM teams either have barely any experience (as a team) thus they have poor understanding on how they play a specific map together and what to work on. Playoffs this can work cause the team has already played a regular season toghether and can look back and choose to focus on specific maps for review since they know where they did poorly and where if they improved they may upset a team on a specific map OR if they were already a top team guarantee they won't lose a couple specific ones. Pro teams already have the advantage of having played together or at minimum have played at the highest level they can quickly determine what maps they need to focus on.
Another thing to keep in mind is that a lot of playoff / Pro level map voting systems assume Bo3 which makes perfect sense since both teams can pick 1 map and the 3rd tie break map is the left over. The current Bo1 veto system means teams always have to play a "leftover" map and not really knowing what to practice until just 2-3 days before a match...

That's a nice explaination, but I wouldn't say that that's the ónly thing that makes it better
I mean yeah sure the other things are nice bonuses but the fact it's harder to see / takes longer to visually process what's happening is a much bigger factor than everything else about it.
The way the iron bomber works though is a good thing for the game and demoman imo. Just needs slightly brighter projectiles.
