#43 BTS LAN: In Memoriam in News
reakolouster200I can tell you that samiface cancelled the LAN using tsc dropping out as the main excuseso the article was right pogchamp

Not really? Something I tried to emphasize in my interview with Recurse is that Sami cancelling LAN was basically because she was the BTS contact and didn't see the LAN happening without her; after a bunch of stressors (dealing with my situation and dashner leaving, dealing with tsc leaving, having to find the 2 main roles for any LAN: tourney admin and broadcast director/producer) and personal stressors she decided to step down. This isn't speculation if you know these people and were behind the scenes, which is why people are coming forward to correct minor errors. Both you guys and the article are half right, half wrong on this one.

reakolouster200when it was really her finding out that Console was going public with his story on dashnerr and exposing that samiface wanted Console to drop out of the LAN staff to protect dashnerr instead of outing an abuser. This was explained a little bit in Console original thread he has since taken down for “legal” reasons (per his word). speculation smile, i guess tftv staff should just do what vnn does lmao

Once again, not speculation. This is shit lou knows because we co-lead NA and I tend to tell him things about my life and TF2 from time to time, especially when it is relevant to the scene or him.

reakolouster200Alfa’s thread was just calling out poor decision making on tsc and sami’s front which is why Alfa is somehow pinned with being the “nail in the coffin” in the LAN. Nah, it was sami doing terrible things.tsc has stated that the main reason he stepped down was due to the backlash. not saying the backlash was unjustified, but just because it wasn't justified doesnt mean it was not the reason

tsc did step down due to the harsh community backlash, however this was not the cause for LAN's death; Sami simply did not want to continue on dealing with tons of stress organizing this huge monstrosity without the same team she knew and trusted doing the Rewind series of events, that being Dashner and tsc.

I will say there are minor errors in the article that I gave more context to Recurse to and most have been fixed. I still disagree with calling me a Production Lead, seeing as I was only ever advising dashner on talent/production crew to pick up post-2016 since he was pretty out of the loop and had biases against some groups like ETF before I talked to him. I can understand that being technically true as I'm a production lead with TFTV and that's the org people seem to be associating with BTS for some reason?

#26 question about LAN-streams. in TF2 General Discussion
bearodactylAs much as I would like tftv to be the main production stream for everything isn't it still the case that enigma just gets all of the twitch sub money and none of it goes to casters/production people? Seems like those who volunteer their time to this stuff would be better off getting at least some compensation from other streams like RGL or whatever other orgs

The money made off of twitch and YouTube revenue is actually so small. Combined with the basic necessity for a lot of people to use adblock on the forums to not get bad popups from the ad service we use; I wouldn't be surprised if despite having that as extra income keeping site servers up and keeping the 2 domains is still a loss for him. Internally monetization has been discussed briefly on certain stuff but at the end of the day people are doing tftv because they love the game. Rewarding people for their dedication would be epic but not something feasible at all.

Edit: afaik working with ETF and TFTV for 2 years, and next season RGL, compensation has not been a thing for a long time if ever for online stuff. I know with LANs the orgs look for what they can (for example staff camping at iseries/CPG and ETF helping with my train reschedules). It's not a problem limited to tftv.
