#15 froyotech benched from playing as a team in RGL in TF2 General Discussion

yo this is actually the biggest meme and i love it

the real kicker is right here

the articleTF2 is not the first game to run into this. Almost every single professional sports league has rules in place to try and prevent this from happening. Having one team siphon all of the best talent does not make for a healthy competitive ecosystem, and RGL is inclined to agree with the ideas of the rules that professional leagues have done to try and prevent this.

uhh what? What kind of league puts a limit on team prize earnings (salary is monthly pay, wierd use of the term by him but w/e) or restrictions on talent moves? rn in pretty much every other esport the reason talent siphering doesnt happen like it does in tf2 is for 3 pretty important distinctions

1. other esports have player contracts with large buyouts
2. other esports don't have as small a top talent pool as tf2
3. the team in question has the only player both willing and fiscally able to put basically their entire life into competing in tf2

If the goal is to host a competition and incentivize and reward top level play with prizes (like literally every other fucking esports league?) then why would you punish someone for dominating? I hate seeing froyo win as much as the next person (someone kidnap vand/voll/corsa for bird noises 2 please) but like this isnt the way to do it. Also, calling froyo unbeatable is kind of a joke, especially considering the diversity of the roster game in recent events

TLDR; sigafoo is big dumb and doesnt understand how to run a league (go figure)
edit: i cant count to 3

#9 TForgotten2 - Competitions on forgotten maps! in Projects

As someone who's been around a lot of tournament organizers for pug group-style or sized tournaments, this is the least planned so far that i've seen. Before you post to a community forum about it to gauge interest about one of the many concept tournaments i've seen pop up recently you need

  • maps
  • format
  • tourney system (match.tf, faceit, toornament, essentials, etc)
  • clearly defined rules that don't blow (the threshold for comp on TF2center is still at least 300 hours, and forcing teams to take on new players wont be fun for either experienced or new players)
  • a central place of communication (usually discord)
  • some experienced mods to help you get your stuff running
  • at least a loose schedule/timeframe
  • pretty much anything other than "hey guys i have this half-baked idea and am gonna host a tournament for it and it'll get massive!"

There's a ton of shit that goes into tournament organizing and frankly you don't seem very prepared to post about it, let alone host.

I actually really enjoyed playing with rocket on medic last season before our team died. Don't be fooled by b4nny stream clips, he actually has a really good attitude and is super dedicated to getting better. He's also a pretty good medic and I think he would be able to hang comfortably in IM. Can't say much about his scout but if he has the same mindset as he does on medic he'll improve fast.

#20 cornpop leaving tf2 casting D: in TF2 General Discussion
MarxistI call not it on the taking cornpop's organizational work.

But seriously I miss cornpop already.

Actually, I will be taking on the role of NA Coverage lead, cornpop reached out to me and has been showing me the ropes and i'm looking forward to taking on more responsibility and giving more back to the game and community.

That being said hate it being under these circumstances, I love Jesse to death and have been watching since his open youtube days :(

Beelthazuswhy dont you just come back after your done doing whatever you want to, instead of being dramatic. tf2 is going to be around for awhile I think. I just dont understand why people gotta leave forever, but this is me being selfish again. later bro, and good luck.

He literally says in his tweet he's not leaving because of anything dramatic, he just wants to focus on school and other esports. If you watch his personal stream he's been doing a lot of casting stuff related to ESL's R6 Siege and iirc he was in talks of doing stuff with northern arena.

Cornpop's TwitLongerAfter more than 3 years of casting everything from UGC Iron, to Rewind 2 Grand Finals, I have decided to leave the world of competitive TF2. Unfortunately there is no juicy drama reason why I'm leaving. I still am friends with and respect everyone at tftv and I still think this is the best community ever, I'm just no longer able to commit the time that TF2 deserves. Going forward my focus will shift onto keeping up with school/life, and pushing myself farther in casting for other esports.

Thanks to the whole community for what you’ve done for me, I’ll never forget it <3

Cornpop's casting ends so does my life FeelsBadMan :gun:
