#1 ESEA Season 24 Coverage Feedback Thread in TF2 General Discussion

It's been about a week since ESEA Season 24 has come to an end, so we want to hear what you thought about the casts and coverage on teamfortress.tv!

What did you think to our coverage this season?
What do you think was good?
What do you think was bad?
Why do you thinks those things?
What would you like to see in future?

And thanks to everyone who participated in the ETF2L feedback thread last month, direct feedback is the best way for casters and producers to improve, so we appreciate you taking the time to write down your thoughts :)

#30 TF2 at Calgary Expo 2017 in TF2 General Discussion

Other than having to wake up at 6am to drive to Calgary on Sunday, this was a really fun time! Big thanks to BloodyIron and the other people at LANified and the Calgary Expo for putting in all the hard work to make this happen.

Even if it wasn't the most serious format, and the relative skill level was pretty low (one guy on the 2nd place team had 30 hours), it's awesome to see TF2 lans being supported in Alberta, and I'll be there next year assuming it's still on! :)

#31 Unlock survey results in TF2 General Discussion

If invite players are going to decided on the whitelist, it should be a legit yes or no vote for every weapon and not just an open discussion, to ensure the loudest don't have the most influence. I'm not saying there can't be a talk along with the vote, but without the vote it can be hard to gauge where the support really lies.

An example I thought up would be something like:

Top 4 ESEA captains
Top 4 etf2l captains
Top 2 Ozfortress captains
+3 community votes.
13 total votes

The community votes would be a simple poll on tftv that would be proportional, so if 66% of the community voted to keep the xbow, and 33% voted to ban it, that would count as 2 KEEP votes and 1 BAN vote. After all is over tally up the votes and that's what gets played with.

#11 Appreciation Thread for the ESEA S24 GF last night in TF2 General Discussion

Shoutout to all the casters we had on throughout the season. We've watched a lot of casters leave the scene, so it's fantastic that there are still people dedicated to putting out casts with a high level of quality and professionalism. Obviously these casts wouldn't happen without them, so I appreciate everyone who volunteered their time, weather they did 50 casts this season or just 1.

Shoutout to all the producers who do so much work that people don't even realize. The new producers we brought on were awesome to work with, and often saved casts by producing when there was no one else to do it. The old producers who stuck around are just as appreciated, working with the new guys and doing all the dirty work that everyone else is too dumb to do. (specifically me)

Shoutout to all the annalists we had on throughout playoffs, always my favorite part in a cast because I learn so much and I get a break from talking :)

Shoutout to the writers who came in during the later half of the season and made our match pages interesting again. They just started writing those on their own, so I was pleasantly surprised when I realized we were going to have sick descriptions for the rest of the season.

Shoutout to TurboTabs who helped with organizing from across the pond. As much as I despise trello, most of what Turbo did saved me a lot of headache with organizing, and he was always good at getting back to me despite the timezone change.

Shoutout to all the others in tftv who contributed in one way or another. Moderating in twitch chat, putting up twitter notifications, and giving feedback are all small roles that don't get much appreciation but add up very quickly.

Shoutout to Saam for A: killing it for 7 hours on the grand finals last night and B: being a huge behind the scenes force in ensuring everything ran smoothly. Saam helped with the little things like answering all my invite related questions and working with the players to figure out what was going on, but also in a lot of big was such as doing a fuck ton of work to make the new map cup happened (Which wasn't technically part of our S24 coverage but oh well) and convincing annalists to come on stream for our playoff coverage.

Shoutout to the players that we casted this season, specifically the ones who were in constant contact with me confirming match times and rosters before casts. I'm sure all of them hated my constant confirmations by the end of the season, but they were always very easy to work with regardless.

Finally shoutout to the community. None of this would matter if there weren't people watching the streams, playing in leagues, talking on the forums, and generally caring about the game. People say the community is toxic (they say every community is toxic) but I disagree. You all rock.

See ya next season <3

#10 wtf just happened on esea gf stream in TF2 General Discussion

What did we say about shade? There might have been a few sarcastic jokes made in twitch chat, but I don't give a shit if another stream is more popular than ours. At the end of the day viewer count is just a number underneath the stream. I'm more concerned with the quality of the cast, and that the people who are watching are enjoying the game.

glasswhy isn't it on the schedule? who's casting?

Event doesn't go up until the match date and time is confirmed by either the teams or on ESEA.

edit: If it does happen today it will be Marxist and myself casting.

#23 Yet another unlocks survey in TF2 General Discussion

I feel like there's going to be a lot of people who just look at this survey, maybe finish the first few and then just decide it's not worth their time. Which is a shame because there's 0 discussion to be had about 75% of the unlocks in this game. Like the "Neon Annihilator" Does it improve the game? Not in the slightest. Have I ever seen it used? Not even once. Should we ban it? Who fucking cares?

Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate all the work you put into it, and I hope you get some good data, but I'm worried you'll be disappointed with the number of responses.

#28 TF2 at Calgary Expo 2017 in TF2 General Discussion

I actually totally agree with the 3v3 thing. I've convinced a couple of IRL friends who don't play TF2 much to go with me to this, but there's no way I could have gotten 5 others.

Still disagree with the map list and ban list, but it's whatever I don't plan to be taking this too seriously.

Thanks for taking the time to respond :)

Amazing to see Edmonton doing well after 10+ years of complete suck.

Just need to fix that whole "loosing 7-0" problem tonight, and we'll be good.
