fen_I feel like it's sort of a Antz vs Bugs Life thing
Bugs Life was in works first, then the art director(I could be wrong?) left to dreamworks and started working on Antz with the same plot. Antz was released in films a monthish before Bugs Life in the end.
OW was in development much earlier than paladins I feel but paladins had first playable builds much before.
In the end OW battleborn and paladins all share basically the same archetype of characters and weapons and at this point I don't really care about who did it first or whatever because they are all done horribly and are uninteresting in their regards.
Only problems with that is comparing Paladins' and Overwatch's closed betas the Paladins beta looked incredibly janky, empty, and unpolished and Overwatch's didn't. Overwatch's beta looked like an absolutely polished complete game (sparing balance changes) while Paladins actually earned that title of beta. I'm pretty convinced they spent way less time on Paladin's playable builds than Blizzard did with Overwatch.
