VortexDeerDidn't Crack Clan Yellow run Rabbit (I think it was him?) on pocket pyro for the majority of the season in open S15? You might be able to find some demos or something if you want to see some pros and cons if finding people to scrim against is difficult.I played with Rabbit/Hooey in s11 and he did mostly the same thing. So I'm speaking from experience when I say that running pyro as a pocket is objectively worse than a soldier. I'm trying to think of a position to replace where a full-time pyro would be better suited and I can't think of one.
By pocketing as pyro you're giving up all of your offensive capabilities. Every single one of the scrims you play, winning or losing, will most likely reach 30 minutes before anyone gets 5 rounds. You can only take the majority of the heals and do the least damage for so many games before you have to think to yourself "am I screwing over my team?"
Thanks for the solid post.
You could be 100% right, I'd like to experience this for myself though to make sure. You're basically giving up damage and mobility for utility to support your demoman, as the demoman would be playing an aggressive euro-demo style.
Maybe the pyro could be better suited to play on the flank but then I feel like your airblasts don't really impact the game and you'll just get ganged by the scouts.
Anyway, grateful for feedback from someone who's tried this before.
scrimshawDesiqnno-one's said why it's bad it's just a bunch of posts saying "it's bad haha"ya ur logic is infallible
The first post was talking about scouts I'm guessing. If we're talking about midfights the pyro could have a problem with scouts, but other than that the demo is an expert at mid-long range fighting and the pyro is an expert up close, so will a scout really get that close without dying?
demo hits scouts at mid-long range 100% of the time later scouts
and scout hits pyro 100 percent of the time, and is always in really close proximity too.
In fact our pyro and demo are both playing with a steering wheel

practicing teamwork, comms, pushes and adapting to new situations is such a waste of time.
I've been discussing the idea of playing with a Pyro pocket in 6s as I believe the Pyro has good implications against soldier, demo and scout, but obviously there are both pros and cons:
+ Being able to reflect spam from the combo
+ Making space for pushes
+ limiting the enemy pocket to using a secondary
+ 90 damage flares and a stun against scouts
+ Wasting enemy uber
- Not being able to close gaps
- Slow to Mid
- Low damage output
With the detonator the Pyro can close gaps more easily which makes uber's/chasing slightly better at a risk of losing out on damage.
And with the powerjack being unbanned in UGC we can have the Pyro arrive at mid the same time as the pocket usually would.
I understand people want to practice against the norm but I don't feel like it's as bad as everyone makes it out to be, "stop wasting our time" and "stop trolling". We're deadly serious about playing with this composition and want to improve and see where this goes, and of-course if it doesn't work we'll just scrap the idea, but we're not even given the chance to play one full scrim.
In every other competitive game I've played the meta is constantly changing and people are adapting to new strategies. Although every 6's player I've talked to about this has seemed very close minded. We played 3 scrims tonight with a Pyro pocket, one of which the team destroyed us in the first round then left (which is understandable because we didn't know our skill level so we're just trying to place ourselves) and then the second and third the teams both left after about 5 minutes of playing.
Anyway, I'd just like to ask if there are any open-minded teams around the Mid-High open level who would like to play against us. I realise this thread is just going to get buried with -Frags but if anyone would legit like to play just hit me up on steam.
he almost got a shoutout in a esea cast once.

TerywjIt's not really realistic though. This is (to be) the only team in Open running a full time Heavy / Pyro / Spy. I don't see why you'd scrim them / scrim more than once. Even if you adapt quickly and win, what's the point? Unless you decide to scrim them every day, it's kind of a one and done thing. You beat the bizarre team, and then play normal teams. Same goes for losing to them. It's different than facing a full time Sniper on Viaduct, since it's not always a staple but is certainly something you may encounter during matches. IDK.
It builds teamwork.
TerywjMa3laaThis isn't aimed specifically at you, but I didn't make a thread called "Bizzare Team Lookign for scrims and peoples opinions on having different classes in 6s", im just asking if anyone has a roster. I don't understand why everyone cares so much that I want to play with my friends in open that happen to play other classes, but I'm really sorry that its apparently a big deal to a lot of people.
That's fine, I was merely adding to what Kace and Phrakture were saying.
On a more related note is Cole gonna play for you guys? Or is he sticking with WuTang Financial.
We want cole. But he's staying with wutang financial.
