mustardoverlordare there plans to get logs.tf integration with this?
Yes we do plan to have logs.tf integration. I cannot put an exact date on it yet, though.
I am personally liking option 2 the best, it gives us some of the immediacy desired from option 3, with a proper reset that an OT determination should have.
The issue with Option 3 is that the immediacy for the final push in the last few seconds isn't there. I feel like this will slow down the action a bit and negate the purpose of the 30 minute map timer.
SideshowThe golden cap scenario is perfectly fine as long as people expect it. As soon as the timer ends and you draw, it launches you straight into the golden cap without having to ready up. I like this, it keeps the tempo up, but I can see the argument for allowing a ready-up period too. In actual fact the BEST scenario imo would be to not have any golden caps whatsoever, and:
...once the timer runs out and you draw, the timer simply doesn't end the round and the game ends whenever a team next scores a round. This means that teams will keep playing the last round until it ends, and the winner of that will be the overall winner. It doesn't reset the round so it allows teams to continue the flow from the actual game.
This is ofc pretty controversial since it's different to how every other league runs it but it solves the neverending problem of how to run tiebreaker scenarios in TF2. And it's perfect for you guys since you run on a mod anyway.
Can we focus discussion here on preference for handling the Golden Cap? I see three potential options. I think to adhere to ETF2L standards we would need to force a ready menu before Golden Cap, I would still like to have the conversation though.
All three options assume there is a tie when map time ends and that the next round point decides the match victor.
Option 1
Option 2
Option 3
KanecoDilusiveKanecoThat golden cap was confusing as fuck, I genuinely expected it to be a different config, didn't even rollout to mid, not gonna blame it on that tho cuz we could have easily won that round if we didnt mess up our last push.
Other than that (and no logs) it was all perfect, love the site and the infrastructure of the cups. Can't wait to play wednesday, shame we won't have kiler4fun that day.
Can you help me to identify what exactly is confusing about Golden Cap. Should we look at launching Golden Cap immediately instead of resetting player position and requiring an additional ready up?
I personally like the ready up before Golden Cap as it gives teams a chance to take a breath and discuss strategy.
ETF2L Golden Cap states winlimit 1 and maptimer 0 -- Did something other than this take place or was that config simply not expected?
Ok, so the way etf2l works is, you have a config for the normal game and if it ends tied up you have to run the golden cap config (or change winlimit to 1) resetting the game as it would be starting from scratch with winlimit 1. Requiring an additional ready up.
We tied 3-3 with like 5? seconds remaining of the regular 30 minute time, so we thought that was gg as at the end of the regular time the game ends and you have to swap the config for the golden cap, but instead after the 5 secs of regular time left the game just kept going.
Obviously we weren't prepared, I think no one of our players rolled out to mid. We lost mid straight away because we assumed if we were gonna play golden cap what would happen is the game would end and we would start the golden cap round after a config reset like in etf2l.
We eventually settled for that and kept playing, even after losing mid we still were able to push back to their last so I'm not blaming the loss on that but it could have easily been different because we were wiping them on a lot of mids.
If I understand correctly. When the map timer ended, the game carried on under the current round timer.
Instead we need to immediately reset positions and prompt that ready up as soon as the map timer ends -- Assuming of course there is a tie in score.

We have made significant changes to the platform and the game mods. Myself and the Gaming Grids team have been testing both as much as possible to ensure a smooth experience tomorrow.
Most of the platform changes have been directed at back end administration features so that we can better assist should issues arise.
We have also included automatic demo upload right into your match lobby. We have done testing on this, but cannot (without more testing) guarantee the integrity of all the demo uploads. The demo files will become available shortly after the match score has been finalized.
The Majority of the mod changes revolve around properly supporting ETF2L configs and the automatic demo uploads I mentioned above.
I have reduced the timing between each round from 1 hour to 40 minutes. If I see that I can reduce this timing more, I will do so. This is in attempt to reduce the overall time you are waiting around.
Hoping for a smooth event tomorrow. Should you experience any issues please let us know as soon as possible so that we can address them immediately. Big thanks to everyone who signed up!
See you EU players in 4 hours!
I would like to apologize ahead of time for the condition of today's events. I had indicated that all the necessary configs and fixes would be in place for the Frag Fest events -- and going into it that was certainly the intention.
We had some issues with our platform code in the testing environment, not being able to work these out in time for the first Wednesday Frag Fest event meant that we were unable to release the most current mod update.
Unfortunately this forced us to run today's event on the old mod version with the black screen issue and improper configs in place.
We expect to have all new updates available by Sunday's Frag Fest event. Again, very sorry for the inconvenience today. I do hope some of you were able to have a good time despite the shortcomings.
Yes indeed, do sign up! For reference I will be adjusting the TF2 EU Wednesday event back by 1 hour. I will also be watching the timing of these events and will highly likely reduce the time between matches to further compress the overall event timing.
And as Ma3laa mentioned, FREE MONEY!
shruggerI want to enter the tourney but unfortunately it conflicts with playoffs. If it was on a friday or saturday(the days people dont scrim) I would play 100%. wish I could support you guys! will try to catch the next one
No worries, there will be plenty more! Hope to catch you in the next one!
PYYYOURHello Dilusive,
After a little web work it seems you are in charge of business development for Gaming Grids and also personally co founded Exertus Esports. You probably highly experienced at gaming community development and so thank you for thinking TF2 should be apart of your current venture with Razer Arena.
Hello PYYYOUR,
Thank you for taking the time to voice your concerns and raise a few questions.
With the Frag Fest events currently in place there is a $100 prize pool split (75/25) for first and second. I understand that this is not a massive prize, but Razer was kind enough to offer this. We are running 8 events each week for CS:GO and TF2 split between the two game titles and EU and NA. Currently these tournaments are set to carry out over the next 8 weeks and we will explore extending them depending on their popularity. (THESE ARE NOT MAIN EVENTS) I really want to stress that with as much emphasis as possible. The Frag Fest events are here to add substance to the platform, give people the opportunity to try the system out if they have not done so or to compete if they have time available that day.
The platform is still under a heavy development regime with lots of changes and features underway. Razer wants the platform to cater to all gamers, not just the pros or semi-pros. With that said we obviously have our work cut out for us to meet the needs of the varying interest levels.
Currently, the tournaments do not require an entry fee, we do not have advertisements and there is no revenue generator on the platform whatsoever. The desire for this platform is not one of selfish gain. Gaming Grids and Razer came together under one vision - A kick ass gaming platform where friends can compete together or against each other with ease and minimal hassle. For gamers to be able to spawn up a tournament of their own and host events for their friends, colleagues, schoolmates or whoever it may be. We want to improve upon the professional level tools currently in place and we want to make them readily available.
I understand many of you may be satisfied with what is currently in place and you may not have time to compete on Razer Arena, there is nothing wrong with that. I do hope that you at least give the platform a shot, check out what we have available now and understand that there is significantly more to come.
I am here to chat with anyone that wants to open dialogue. I am more than happy to work with the community to ensure the best experience is delivered. I love the platform we are building and I can't wait until more of the exciting features are in place.
One final note: I feel it pertinent that I clarify I work for Gaming Grids, the development team behind Razer Arena. In no way do I represent Razer in any fashion.
There aren't very many sign ups. Should I be posting information about this event elsewhere?
janedoeif someone cant do all the maps in one day can they be split up?
The times set for this event are hard times. If someone does not show up for their match at the indicated time they receive a forfeit loss.
SideshowDilusivekosDilusive[*] Adopted ETF2L ConfigsDoes this include ETF2L ruleset? Will you be following their ruling on the new weapon pickup mechanic introduced in the Gun Mettle Update or will it be allowed? I only ask since viaduct is in the map pool for the tournament and it is especially broken on that map.
[*] Adopted ETF2L Whitelist
Currently weapon drops are enabled. I will look into the proper handling for this and see if we can't have it added.
It's not that they're restricted automatically in ETF2L, it's just against the rules and if somebody does it and is reported for doing it, the round in which it was done is overturned.
Looking into it - ETF2L looks like they will be allowing weapon drops.
If the rules state that weapon drops are not allowed, what is the difference between simply removing the feature entirely?
It looks like on this one though, we are going to continue to allow weapon drops and keep an eye on it for a while before making any decisions on the matter.
Ond_kajaAllow picking up dropped weapons pls. And yeah, moving it back one hour should be the optimal solution because most of the players are in CET.
I just want to be clear that the issue with the timing is for the Wednesday European events and not anything else correct?
Solution is to move back the tournament start time from 14:00 CEST to 13:00 CEST?
