I'm a math major, and when school started to actually get enjoyable for me, it was under the guidance of a wonderful calculus prof who'd become a mentor of mine. When I was in calc 2, I was also in a field research class and realized that a problem we were having with developing an experiment could basically be solved with an optimization problem, only with multiple independent variables. This is a calc 4 concept, but my mentor helped me get started on learning it on my own and showed a lot of faith in my ability. It was really empowering, so the gradient vector and calculus in general hold a really special place in my heart.
Hence, Differ ∇ = Differ-Del = just a vague nod to calculus and particularly, the gradient vector. :)

MR_SLINI don't understand why you guys are writing off a sequel to Team Fortress 2 as an impossibility. It's almost certainly going to happen, don't you think? If you go back and look at my writing I referred to specific moments as "Team Fortress" and not "TF2". This is what I mean when I say that some people may not have the patience to wait for Valve to figure things out and why I refer to future generations of Team Fortress players, not TF2 players.
What do we know about Valve?
- They're game makers. They like making games.
- They like their franchises. They like making sequels to said franchises.
- They like Team Fortress. They don't want to see Team Fortress die.
If you take all of these things into account then it makes perfect sense that:
- They're not super interactive with the community and they spend a lot of time making games.
- There's a sequel to Team Fortress 2, an incredibly popular game of theirs.
- They're taking this whole process very seriously and carefully, making sure that they don't ruin their game.
Also I'd argue that Team Fortress 2 was just as popular as Dota. Maybe not as an esport but definitely as a video game.
lexsthe problem people have is that it seems to take them forever to understand why those limits don't work, it's been over half a year since the beta how long till they realize? another year? there won't be anyone left to get information from at that rate. there are more people on pug champ than valve matchmaking sometimesWell they also spent a majority of that time fixing the broken matchmaking system. People complained about how they were getting placed in servers really far away and dealing with abandonment and griefing. They spent a large portion of this time fixing that and making various adjustments to matchmaking in general, as well as class/weapon balances.

s18: team died like week 2 and i didn't play the rest of the season, s19 went 5-11, s20 got cut week 2 and didn't play the rest of the season due to work commitments, s21 made a team with friends that died, so i joined my b and finished the season 9-7, s22 i joined bearly alive after pinto went to japan to visit family and finished the season 9-7
also if you think i literally haven't improved at all, gameplay or personality wise since 18 you're actually blind, deaf, dumb, or a combination of all 3

If you have been actively playing in ESEA since s18(which I believe started in like December of 2014) and your most successful season is going 9-7 in open then that says a lot about your skill. When I started playing you were a mid open roamer that was super annoying and talked about memes all the time. I dont really see how thats any different from what you are now. For the record, I switched to medic because I wanted to play with my friends who needed a medic, not because I was under performing on scout. I made open playoffs and played almost a full season of IM(during which I was one of the better players on my team). I really enjoy playing medic, which is why it is my main, but if you seriously think that I'm not capable of scouting in IM then "you're actually blind, deaf, dumb or a combination of all 3". I've been in mumble with you before, and listening to you speak is honestly one of the funniest things I've ever heard, you can barely structure your sentences and you think showstopper memes are the funniest thing in the world. But idk what i'd expect from a college dropout, virgin, in his mid-20's who cant find a way to get more than 9 wins in open after over 2 years of grinding this game.
