#141 TF2 update for 12/2/15 in TF2 General Discussion

people concerned about them removing the option to hide viewmodels should consider that the option has been available for years in the advanced options menu in-game

There are also two launch options that few people seem to know about the yield significantly better fps (in general):
-high (sets tf2 to high priority mode)
-nod3d9ex (not sure what it does but when I played I a laptop it literally doubled my fps)

#12 TF2 is not displaying in 144hz anymore in Q/A Help
mdvuntil you fix it: set desktop to 144, run game on borderless

I will try this. Doesn't running the game in border less cause input lag or something?

CrymaIf you're on nvidia go to control panel -> 3d -> team fortress 2 and turn refresh rate to highest available

I probably should have mentioned it in the op, but I use and amd gpu (sapphire Radeon r9 290). I updated the drivers yesterday but I was already experiencing this problem beforehand

#1 TF2 is not displaying in 144hz anymore in Q/A Help

I noticed about a week ago an odd stuttering in tf2. I didn't exactly know what to think of it until today when I lowered my monitors refresh rate to 60. There was no distinguishable difference in tf2 (but a very significant difference on my desktop)

I run tf2 in full screen mode
I run windows 10

Things I've done:
-Validating files
- "-refresh 144" in launch options
- Turning off Aero Snap
-Turning off transparent windows
- Applying an Fps cap
- Making sure v sync is off

#3 My TF2 is very buggy in Q/A Help
deguCZfix for your problem with black stuff: mat_mipmaptextures 0
clean your custom folder and launch tf2 with -autoconfig and verify game cache
did you edit comanglia's config?

I'll try mat_mimaptextures 0, but from memory it makes tf2 look pretty grainy

I did edit the config, but only slightly

After doing the steps you've listed and lowering my dxlevel from 98 to 90, the black models and water bug are both solved. I still get stutter though

#1 My TF2 is very buggy in Q/A Help

Approximately three weeks ago, I made the upgrade to a desktop pc. *SWITCHING TO DX90 FIXED THIS* After installing tf2 I noticed right off the bat a very odd graphical glitch in where things such as weapon models, stickys, buildings (among several other things) were pitch black. I ignored this initially because it didn't have a very large impact on gameplay. However, recently Ive begun to notice a new series of oddities in my tf2. Whenever I go under water (like on a jump map for example) my screen becomes all white, an opaque water texture, or flames. Also Ive begun to notice a strange stuttering that affects everything besides hud elements (like viewmodels, this also concerns me the most because it makes playing unbearable)

I get this stutter/ strobe effect regardless of fps

I've tried disabling aero, applying an fps cap (289), and making sure v-sync is off

OS:windows 10
Refresh: 144hz
CPU: Intel
GPU: AMD (recently updated to the windows 10 version of drivers, problems were already occurring before I updated)
Launch options: -w 1920 -h 1080 -novid -console -useforcedmparms -freq 144 -refresh 144 -full -noforcemaccel -high -noforcemspd -nod3d9ex
Dxlevel: 98
Config: http://pastebin.com/31i7YCeJ

Any help regarding the matter would be greatly appreciated :o))

#23 Remove Firepowered MGE servers from server list in TF2 General Discussion
spicolitrippaif elo was a thing again I would play 3x as much mge, it just makes it more funYeah elo was nice, but it brings out the gay mge strats like people playing hopscotch shotgun from 2nd level on spire and counter jumping idiots.

As if that shit doesn't happen in every mge server

how do you think you can interpret a "muslim", solely on looks, without them potentially being of another religion entirely

A lot of muslims wear clothing that people identify as muslim, for example those stupid looking man dresses with head dresses ect. Of course not all muslims wear these, so you can't always know who is a muslim and who isn't. The fact I was bringing up is that because of these recent events carried out by muslims, many people start to feel uncomfortable when they see someone in "muslim" clothing or if they hear that someone is a muslim. This has nothing to do with racism as it is normal for people to associate fear and discomfort with something that has caused so much terror (in this case ISIS and muslim extremists).

A good example of this is how many women will feel intimidated or downright terrified of men if they were severely abused (sexually or physically) by men when they were children. If this is the case then you can't call out these women as being "sexist" because they have learned to associate men with pain and fear.

Since when is hating someone for their cultural background any better than hating someone for their race?

#1 Low FPS as of Halloween update in Q/A Help

Hey,

As of yesterday's update, I've been recieving significantly lower fps than normal. Even after taking several steps to gain more fps (such as dropping my resolution from 1280 * 720 to 800 * 600 and using several mods that supposedly give increased, more stable fps [no hats, no explosions, no bullet dust), I'm still struggling to get anywhere close to what I used to (I've gotten it to range from 50-80% of what I used to, but it consistently hovers around the 50-60% mark)

I use comanglias mid quality (everything set to low except for textures, which are set to max), dx8.1

My launch options: -w 800 -h 600 -novid -console -useforcedmparms -full -nofrocedmaccel -nod3d9ex -high -
noforcedmspd

From what I can tell, it's likely not a problem with my cpu

Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated!
