If you don't think they're right, prove them wrong. Otherwise, you're just being an angst-filled little shit, and that's probably why they feel that way. As a "problem drinker" I know I probably won't stop drinking just because I want to, but then again, I don't have any issues with my parents. I also know I'm a fuck-up, and am working toward fixing that.

It's not about the means, it's about the ends. If you have the ability to design websites, network - get SOMETHING as a portfolio for fuck's sake. You can talk and talk, but, since you have access to the internet, SHOW THEM that you're capable of the things you want to pursue. If you wanna be in a band, try out with whatever instrument you play or sing for them, but don't just say you wanna be a rockstar then fart around on youtube watching some asshole do hard cuts and silly voices.

Work is definitely tricky when you don't have transportation, where does your dad work, your mom? Maybe they have some menial job opening and you can carpool until you can afford a vehicle. Otherwise, you may need to explain that you want to get out into the world and will need to borrow the car while working a weird shift in order to do that.
If all else fails, and you're not just being an angsty fuckboy, there are likely places made to help folks like you get out of those situations (missions, whatever).

It is entirely possible to fund this kind of stuff without jacking up taxes.With something of this scale, there would either have to be a jump in taxes or a reallocation of funds (like away from the massive amount of money we spend on the military).
