#66 [PSA] SteamPipe, Part 2 in TF2 General Discussion
SAJewerssulnSAJewersAlso FYI: According to someone on the Steam Forums, if you run a server running Source Mod Anti Cheat, you'll need to update it, or else it'll ban people running SteamPipe for cheating.
Wait what.
According to this guy on the Steam Forums, Steampipe removes the sv_consistency check, which causes SMAC to ban you for an sv_consistency violation.

This is true. The source mod anti cheat ton pug.na banned some of us today before Fog was notified and fixed the issue.

#22 Rate my build please :D in Hardware

I think you've had enough good feedback but
1. buying a monitor should be the least important and is something that should be bought on sale (http://promotions.newegg.com/NEemail/latest/index-landing.aspx) after you buy your computer parts.
2. Don't buy windows
3. 800 watts is fucking crazy, 500 will work for this build
4.

Don't all mobos support OC'ing?

not really but it's more of a thing with the CPU, AMD cpus are cheap power and although rate a little high in that power department, have a short lifespan and aren't really capable of more than face-value.

#8 Debating whether or not to get a ModMic in Hardware
silitI don't know if you've made your decision yet, but here's what I've found.

The modmic has not only met, but far exceeded my expectations in terms of quality, performance, and convenience.

Some people seem to be saying that it picks up a lot of sound - I've not had this issue. I use open back headphones, two mx red keyboards (on which I bottom the fuck out of the keys), and even frequently eat apples while playing. None of the noise from these things goes through my mic - maybe I just have the settings right...

The modmic 3.0 is supposed to be a sidegrade to the current 2.0, the 3.0 offering more noise cancellation... so if you are super concerned about cancellation of background noise, keep up with the blog on their website for the 3.0's drop date. Rumor has it that they are going to sell the few 3.0s they have, cancel all production of 3.0s, and start work on the 4.0. Given that they were talking about releasing the 3.0 for like 8 months now, there is no telling how long you'd have to wait for a 3.0 or 4.0.

I hope this helped.

I was tearing my hair out waiting for the 3.0. They announced "next month" every month for about 4 until I just decided to buy a headset. Still interested in the modmic but now that I actually have a decent mic I can wait until they release 8.0 and its flawless.

winning open is minus the cost of being in open for an entire season is maybe enough for a .25 cents an hour if you were really slacking

#4 The Plight of a former Pyro main in TF2 General Discussion

as a pocket the only time when you don't want to take out your shotgun whenyou play too much tr_rocket_training and then having someone popped into the air bring back PTSD-like reflexes to airshot the guy

otherwise its a good habit and works best with scouts because they'll probably be the easiest to target after a good rocket -- a good one being one that does good damage and knocks them in a direction like an airblast. typically trying to airshot decent roamers is pretty hopeless and it'd be better to use those rockets when hes closer to the ground. in regular situations rockets are more revered because of the splash damage being able to give more to everyone so its a lot better in almost every other situation.

there's some other stuff like baiting scouts with a shotgun but it's not too important for a beginner.

#11 idea in Site Discussion

the most elegant solution in my opinion is to integrate this feature with threads you watch and then keep a limit on the number of threads you can 'watch', looking at the watched threads from your own profile or whatever (and then doing that means that you don't have to bloat the system by having users load an entire page of topics only to find out what they haven't looked at)

#12 Soldier Fast Rollouts in TF2 General Discussion
kirbyYou can get to mid pretty quick on Snakewater but it's kind of pointless since it really only works if demo goes window. Badlands fast rollout is kind of pointless too. There's one on Warmfront but we don't play that. I think Process/Granary/Gullywash are the only maps with good enough fast rollouts.

did snakewater today as a test, it worked. i went balcony to upper and bombed their med as he was coming out, you can't do it regularly though.

#14 So wait in TF2 General Discussion
disengageI doubt we would come back. Even if he did, he would fucking blow. His playstyle of running in blindly after team fights and meatshotting everything went out of style like 6 seasons ago.

you say that like it has, but I wouldn't agree. And him being online was him playing in pug.na, which was actually really cool since I had never been around back then and he's pretty legendary. He's a really nice guy. As for how he played, he wasn't bad by any margin. Just his gamesense is behind (as expected from anyone who has missed out for forever) and scout is kind of unwieldy until you actually play it for more than an hour after years. His sniper was really good.

As for if he's coming back, he told me this
[00:54] <Epoch`> so is this a testrun or do you actually plan on coming back
[00:55] <carnage> eh
[00:55] <carnage> both
[00:55] <carnage> :p
[00:55] <carnage> more of a test run

and this comment is in his group as of last week

If anything, I'm more excited for the potential in a possible big name like complexity looking into tf2 again if carnage is still affiliated with them, which i have no clue about.

#61 ESEA map poll for s14 in TF2 General Discussion

perhaps we should look into encouraging more viewer friendly maps in the pool if gpit is considered a very important map for that and people don't like playing it much at all.

on a side note i think any new map would probably encourage quite a bit of viewership for anyone who watches casually now not that any pool map is really that bad.
