#44 Thoughts on CEVO match scheduling in TF2 General Discussion
CHEERISSTypically, we play our matches 9cst/10est/7pst. I hope I got all the time zones correct. But that should be right...

But I idk why people are having to do so many ffw's. I make sure to add the captains and talk out times. I have yet to have a problem fitting in teams into a week while doing both CEVO and ESEA. Sure I've had problems with some captains. But that's life... I refuse to take a ffw before I exhaust all possible options to play. I wish other captains thought that way but what ev's.

Next up, SYOPS takes 2 ffl's.... rofl... fml.

We already had two teams not respond to a proposed time, at all, and had to play at the default time (9PMest)

#41 Thoughts on CEVO match scheduling in TF2 General Discussion
CEVOPipherBlueberryVillainPipher will you please address why the default match time is set at 6pm pst? It is very difficult to make that match time for a lot of people, and it is a full 1.5 hours earlier than what the community has been traditionally used to. Why was that time selected? Can this be changed ASAP?Traditionally we've had a very small number of players in CEVO playing in the Pacific time zone relative to the amount in the Central and Eastern US time zones. We set up the default times in National conferences to accommodate the majority of our user base.

From what I can gather TF2 teams seem to prefer to play their matches later than our other games, this may have to do with the average age or location of the players. Anyways, like I said in one of my other posts, we're going to revisit the actual default time for default matches in Season 5 based on the data we're currently collecting in Season 4.synchroWhile it's possible to have people available at the default match time, it's a bit ridiculous that teams can make you wait until the default time rolls around for you to know if you're going to play or not. This is something that we're hoping to address in Season 5. If we were to introduce something like the automatic accepting of proposals without a response after X number of hours, this shouldn't be an issue.

I believe he was asking more on why default time can't be changed ASAP. I honestly believe that this can, especially during playoffs, be used to force teams to FFL or use backups more often. Thus giving teams that use this an unfair advantage.

To put this into TF2 perspective, it's sometimes difficult to find a scrim at 9est, almost impossible any earlier than that.

Edit- Even if you put up a poll, I am 99% that a majority of TF2 players would want a later default time.

#35 Thoughts on CEVO match scheduling in TF2 General Discussion

Now I am really confused about two different people saying two different things.

In this instance, when the deadline is reached we will look at which team made the effort to schedule and play the match. If one team did not make any effort whatsoever, they will be given a FFL.

This means that we will try and reschedule that week's match as best we can.
We apologize for the inconvenience of other team's not being responsive, but this isn't something we can force.

Let us know if you have anymore questions about this,

Regards
CEVO|MrSoker

and then

Anyways, I just wanted to address your posts specifically and let you know that we are listening and are preparing to make changes before our next season. In the mean time, everyone should remember that unless there is a CONFIRMED match time in the match communication thread, the match is automatically scheduled for the default time/day of the division.

Thanks,
CEVO|Pipher

Does this mean if the other team says nothing to a request and just shows up and attempts to get the FFW, it will be overturned to a FFL? Then shouldn't Jags match be overturned? (I will admit that I just quickly looked at the paste log, so I maybe wrong)

#33 Thoughts on CEVO match scheduling in TF2 General Discussion

Posted on CEVO, hopefully I will get a response.

I see two huge issues with scheduling this season, while they both have already been said, I still want to clarify.

1) 6PM west is far too early for a match. While ESEA standard was 10:30est maybe too late for some, pushing it an hour and a half earlier than what most people are used to is pretty crazy. Other than catering to those that have a 10 bedtime, I fail to understand the logic behind the default time across all time zones. 6PM west, people wouldn't even be home from work yet. From a TF2 POV, most teams don't even start scriming until 930est.

2) Ignoring match comms for day/time of match in order to get a FFW. Say my team wants to play at 10:30 est on Thursday. While I understand that it maybe late for 10 people within TF2, the other team could say something and we could meet in the middle. This is what happens in ESEA. But this is what can/does happen in CEVO. They say nothing in match comms and do not respond to the request, or say something 30 mins before the match. That means my team, that is actively attempting to find a good day/time for both teams, now has to be free on BOTH DAYS/TIME. A system that allows a team to ignore proposed times can, and will, be used to get FFWs.

I agree with this so much. The worst part is when another team decides to completely ignore what time you're asking for, so you are stuck in the dark. So that team has no idea what day/time you're playing. It could be that you're playing a joke of a time (6PM western) or playing the time you said. They can decide it at any time.

Maybe, all that matters is those that are directly involved. It just seems that those people involved want nothing to deal with him/her

sildeezyNigga, like a month ago you tried to fight some dude over a forum post.

You're correct, I said I was wrong and attempted to change that bullshit that I started. I should have never said anything while that drunk, and I even said that I was sorry too him. I did wrong, and wanted to change it :P

OP seems really young. Good luck, you're going to have a hard time with a real career if you are unable to even be civil within those in pubs. I can assure you that real life is a lot more difficult.

#14 CEVO-O: Week 3 in TF2 General Discussion
triplemintI noticed that while some FFWs get rescheduled into other games, some FFWs stay as FFWs but don't give CPI. Basically, this counts as a loss. Can there be a further explanation of this?

Also, is CPI the sole factor in playoff seeds, or does # of wins have priority? If it's CPI, then getting a FFW is just as bad as losing and you can't do anything about it.

You can get a FFW turned into a match with another team that had a FFW
